Mining and mineral inflation? Yeah... No. They are the way they are so they can act as content. That is all.
There isn't some magical rate of resources entering the game that is maintained, except as an afterthought. If half the miners stopped mining tomorrow they would not increase mineral yields to make up for it. It's all about being a cow for harvest, which you know because you are a ganker, the one doing the harvesting.
There is an entire stratum of game concepts wrapped up in standings and factions that flat out got abandoned for PvP development. When they tried to return to it with incarna, the vocal PvP bunnies crushed it using the pay to win scandal as an excuse.
PvP activity is something just under 20% of the actual gameplay, but receives almost all of the development.
PVP is like 93% of game play. |

According to ccp, PvP activity accounts for only 20%. Banter definitions with them. |

CCP told me this was a pvp game. They didn't mention anything else.

Now I'm annoyed. It was from fanfest or one of their interviews. They broke down what people were doing with their time on EVE, and something slightly less than 20% of that was PvP.
However, until I find a link to a source again, nevermind. |
