A question that might not be for everyone but I am curious.
0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000002% of mankind know that energy can not be destroyed, only transformed.
We have this only slightly illogical and most impossible module that does magic and neutralizes energy.
But where does it go?

But where does it go? It's probably turned into heat. The real question is where do you get the energy from the cap chains for Ospreys and the like?

Anyhow, I said neutralized. There was no transfer of energy, it just disappeared, which brings up my question, to where?

Capacitors don't produce energy, they store the excess power produced by a ship's engine reactor and reuse it to power the rest of the ship. Much like a car battery stores energy from the engine. And since our ship's engines run on antimatter/nuclear power plants, they are very efficient energy wise.
A cap chain on the other hand uses Tesla's principle of wireless power transmission to expand the capacitor limits of a single ship, and combine the power of a ship chain to create a power transformer that connects each ship's powergrid.
You people should skill into thermodynamics so you gain the ability to frown at perpetual motion machines, ASAP. |

It's obviously not as the use of the neut and nos tech shows. Once the student makes that correction in their thinking, the solution is trivial.

What if it was a transfer but extremely inefficient thus dissipating all the energy into heat in space? Just imagine a NOS being a reverse energy transfer and then, picture this being turned to 11 without having the required technology to really handle that amount of energy passing through so it all dissipate into heat. It's like electric circuit inside a home but without the fuse/breaker safety. You put a way too high demand of energy across a medium that can't really handle it so it heats up and waste energy. The neut just make sure it's transfer medium is as bad as imaginable so it heats up to ridiculous level but it won't start a fire like in a house because the transfer is made into space where that amount of energy won't really change anything.

"Free" electricity is made of electrons in a overcrowded valency orbit, in search of a emptier valency obit. Think of those little fellas waiting to put their funsticks into a empty funhole by lack of enough funholes in their place... that's a charged capacitor for you.
How do you neutralize those guys? Either you provide funholes (like, pumping in positive ions with hungry funholes waiting for funsticks so they become satisfied neutral atoms), or let them flow to a place with enough funholes, or use electromagnetism to drain their energy so they're not so willing to find a funhole (FAI wasting their energy to produce photons).
So it's not about "neutralize energy". It's about fulfiling or eroding electrons' urge to fall into a valency orbit gap. |

What's this? My internet spaceship game about internet spaceships is not following realism and/or the laws of physics? WHY I NEVER! I DEMAND THAT CCP FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY!
On the side note I'm gonna log into my WoW account and tell every one that the game should be realistic and that shaking your ass this way does not make a meteor drop on my enemies only for them to shrug it off.

Logic would say it has to be dispersed or discharged into space somehow but good luck with coming up with a conductor.
If our ships are electric where does the fire coming out of the thrusters come from?
How do we slow down without retros?
Why am I in a yellow submarine with lazors of doom?
On a serious note though, how the hell to rocket engines cool down when in space after the prograde burn? There is no air to absorb the heat and i know they dont keep glowing red. Damn silly internet ships making me wonder about real ships. Maybe theres something there to answer the op's question. |

Wrecking capacitance or the ability to store energy seems pretty straightforward: hit the target with enough heat and the conductivity/resistivity of the transmission and storage media will alter and cause dissipation.
Remote power transfer is also not to difficult to grasp except that it would seem to be really easy to disrupt as you would have to have some type of receptacle to accept the power, and the problems of hardening that would flow into the same issue as disrupting storage.
What really puzzles me is how you steal power over distance from someone and get it back. any ideas on how a nos is actually supposed to work? What is the transmission mechanism for the return power? |
