So I added the line into my prefs.ini file to enable the advanced graphics settings, but I was wondering exactly what the new options do, as they aren't clear ( they don't use standard names, like anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering.)
Also, what is the difference between Z-Buffer and W-Buffer, and which is better.

you dont need to add the line anymore, the options are shown by default in your graphics menu.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W-buffering
might help on the z or w
th eothe roptions refer to the amount of memory/cpu being used per pixel to generate color and shadows, more of each or less z-fighting for eg.

Okay, so when I added that line to my ini file, new options did appear in the graphics options page, notable options were Multisampling, and MultiSample increment or something...
Multisampling I imagine is AA, and Multi sampling increment (1 through 4) is the level of AA....

So, from reading the wiki article, it states the whether Z or W buffering is better depends on the application... soooo, in this case does anyone know which is better for Eve?

Try them In game, hit ctrl-f and you'll see your FPS
Then vary the options, and see which ones have a positive impact on your FPS.
In the forum "know issues and workaround" there is a sticky about FPS improvement

Well, I am not looking for increase in FPS, cause I already have enough of that, I am trying to achieve the best image quality possible in this game :)

Z-buffering basically controls how objects are rendered that lie on top of each other in a scene. "Z"-buffering uses integers (whole numbers) while "W"-buffering uses floating points (decimals).
If your graphics card can use it, the best setting would be W-Buffering. Some say that the difference is not that noticable, and in fact some modern graphics cards don't even properly support it. Setting an incompatable setting with W-buffering shouldn't cause a problem, and EVE will normally just default back to Z-buffering.
