Hello fellow Eve Players. I'm fairly new to the game (been playing a month or so) and I'm curious if there will be new mining ships put into the game in the future? I imagine something after exhumers, bigger holds, faster yields, more drones, etc. has there been any talk of this or I'm I just going to need to settle for a exhumer class ship to mine with? Thanks! |

Exhumers are the high end of mining ships. I doubt they will make anything that mines more than them because they don't need to. The economy gets plenty of ore. Mining barges will get a rebalance shortly though.
There are also mining support ships like the orca and rorqual. The rorqual is getting rebalanced shortly too.

Mining, solo mining anyway, tops out pretty quickly as a profession when you reach exhumers. From there, the way to improve your yield relies on support ships with mining links and large ore holds to minimize your travel time.
As Daichi said though, mining ships (both barges and exhumers) are getting a slight overhaul in the fall, and there will be a new structure focused on mining (the Drilling Platform) released this winter. There are no details on either of these yet, but it is possible there will be some significant changes to the mining profession incoming.
I doubt though things are going to change that much though, especially for the solo miner. You should plan on the exhumer being your final mining ship and look to support ships like the Orca or Rorqual for a longer-term mining goal if you keep with the profession. There are also specialized mining ships, like the Prospect and Endurance, to also train for and I could CCP releasing more of these, but I don't expect them to ever release a more efficient general miner as it would just obsolete the current set of mining ships.

There is also redesign in work. They wil look brand new. Mining is designed so it is something very stable in the income part after some skilling and equipping. Probably the most stable proffesion in EVE, if you would take the ISK/h ratio into account, and without the enviromental hazards, like ganking and some rat spawns destroying your vessel when AFK without combat drones deployed.

So, the thing about mining is: all buffs to the method of extraction translate to a decrease in the ore's value. I get that you don't want to "settle" for an exhumer, though. The mining ship line doesn't take that long to skill through. You're next step as a miner might be to setup a corporation that provides barges and boosts to newer players that express a desire to mine. Get into an Orca and start working out the logistics of a competitive ore buyback program.
Just bear in mind that asking CCP for more yield is like asking them to cut your wage. |

This results in ship/module prices going down by comparison.

And if those prices go down why would a miner need to make as much since whatever he buys will be cheeper?

And if those prices go down why would a miner need to make as much since whatever he buys will be cheeper? You fail to understand the mindset of your average miner. Your average miner doesn't want to PvP, this is why they mine. Those who do want to PvP already do so. Having cheaper ships isn't going to make them go on more PvP ops, because mining either takes time, or has such a high yield that it crashes the mineral market.

All I want is a new mining ship. Anyone have some details on the Kubera mining platform or when that might be released? Sorry for the questions, new player and trying to find all the information I need is difficult. Is there any mmo-champions type pages that gather all the dev stuff?

I think at this point he's talking about PVPers who will benefit from lower price if miners dump more ore/minerals on the market translating in a glut of ships/modules. If your "PVP budget" for a month is 500 million for example and all ship price decrease by 10% because of overloaded mineral market, you will be able to afford more ships. The miner won't but he didn't want to anyway. |

Also don't forget that citadels will start taking up quite a bit once pi catches up , as will the next round of structures that are being released which will eat up more minerals and pi.

This is a subject I've been thinking alot about recently.
A battleship sized mining ship that offers the combined attributes of all 3 exhumers. Even though this is a battleship-sized vessel, it by no means should have any offensive bonuses to turrets etc, except for drones to defend itself.
ORE Drilling Platform
Mining Barge Bonuses (per skill level) 5% bonus to Strip Miner and Ice Harvester Range 4% bonus in Strip Miner and Ice Harvester duration
Exhumer Bonuses (per skill level) 4% bonus to all shield resistances 3% bonus in Strip Miner and Ice Harvest duration
Role Bonus 25% bonus to Ore Hold Capacity 50% bonus to drone damage and hitpoints
Drone Capacity: 155 m^3 Drone Bandwidth: 80 Mbit/sec
Cargo Hold: 500m^3 Ore Hold: 30,000 m^3 (37,500 after bonus)
Max Lock Range: 60km Max Drone Control Range: 60km
Shield HP: 7,000 (recharge time 2500 sec) Armor HP: 6,000 Structure HP: 6,000
Capacitor: 5,000 GJ (recharge time 1000 sec)
High Slots: 3 Mid Slots: 6 Low Slots: 3 Rig Slots: 2 (size large)
CPU: 600 Powergrid: 300 Calibration: 400 points
Overview 1. Mining Yield This ship effectively does have more yield than a Hulk. Even though the Mining Barge and Exhumer bonuses are the same as the Hulk, this ship has more low slots enabling more Mining Laser Upgrades. Also mixed with a Mackinaw Ore Hold, this ship needs to make less trips to the station or compression array.
2. Drones The Skiff is able to use a full set of medium drones and even with a drone damage amplifier, killing battleship rats takes a very long time. Upgrading the bandwidth to 80 Mbit/sec allows this ship to use 2x Heavy and 3x Medium Drones, giving this ship a 40% damage boost from the Skiff. (333 dps using 2x Ogres and 3x Hammerheads and no drone damge amplifier)
The drone bay is increased to 155m^3 to allow this ship to stock 80 m^3 for 2x Heavy and 3x Medium to defend against rats and other ships 25 m^3 for 5x Light Drones to defend against Interceptors and other fast ships 50 m^3 for 5x Harvester Mining Drones
3. Tank This ship carries over the same 4% shield resists from the Exhumers, boasts an impressive 7000 shield HP (the Skiff has 6500). Although it does NOT have the bonus to shield HP that the Skiff has, it compensates by having enough CPU and Powergrid to use Large Shield Extenders, rather than medium ones. If you prefer active shield boosting, this ship also stocks a battleship sized capacitor, allowing cap stability when using a Large Shield Booster.
4. Vulnerabilities: Being a battleship-sized vessel, this ship aligns and warps as slow as a battleship, making it much easier to catch if the pilot isn't paying attention to local or intel channels. Features the same weakness as all mining ships, kill the drones and the ship is defenseless. Tankier than the exhumer, killing this will require a gang of 2 or 3 cruisers. |

WOW. We allready got easy and and cheap accessable mining frigates (with awesome ore-hold). 3 different t1 barges (one for every liking). 3 different t2 barges (one for every liking). A bs / capital mining support ship. A capital mining support ship.
You just can-¦t have HUGE YIELD + HUGE TANK + HUGE ORE-BAY in one ship. You have to decide. Before there was something like ore-bay , barges or strippers (yay) "we" used mining apocs. Enjoy your ride in the golden (mining) fleet :) |
