54 billion base item cost for a Thanatos seems really confusing to me.
I don't want / need for there to be a requirement of me using external tools to pull data from some api soure, there should be some sort of valid in-game type of way to see how this works. |

It is (as far as I remember) a somewhat arbitrary value assigned solely for the purpose of applying tax. It is similar to the very arbitrary value assigned to PI products for the purpose of applying import / export taxes.
For research it is representing the "value" of the research being down, not the value of the item. |

I am not really looking for a external tool, if I did have one I would just try to get the formula out of it.
I just want to know how/why the "base" price is 53.8 billion for something that has an actual base price of around 1 billion. The install cost of nearly 2.5 billion seems excessive too, but if it is based off of a price of nearly 54 billion isk for the base item then I guess that is understandable.
You shouldn't "need" an external tool to see how some things work at a basic level.
Does your tool show a cost of 2.5 billion isk to run the job in the image, If so then can you provide the formula used? |

Base costs were introduced during the industry overhaul to prevent market manipulations and thus, inflated manufacturing costs. It's a fixed value for anything you can use to build stuff, blueprints and materials alike.

I think it was to prevent FW cheating more than the actual "market" manipulation itself. I think that the FW points were based off of the value of kill-mails and people were stacking ships with "manipulated" price items.
Base price of a "BPO" is 2% of the output item value. So it looks like it's 2% @ Level 1, and then increases using the same formula as the time per level formula.
Not the same as production, that's a flat runs*value calculation. Blueprints are more of a (time/time@lvl1)*(2%value)
CCP should have some info somewhere to explain this on a basic level.
All I need to do now is find citadel somewhere without broker fee's and no thanatos buy order so I can sell myself a thanatos a few thousand times and drive the price down ;P.....

Does your tool show a cost of 2.5 billion isk to run the job in the image, If so then can you provide the formula used? Here's the logic I use. All the formulas are in the links that I provided in the previous thread.
baseJobCost = Sum(eachmaterialquantity * adjustedPrice) JobFee = BaseJobCost * ManufacturingFacility.CostIndex * UserRuns FacilityUsage = JobFee * ManufacturingFacility.TaxRate ManufacturingFacilityUsage = (JobFee + FacilityUsage) * FWManufacturingCostBonus
The cost is based off the average material costs used to make the item as I explained in the thread I linked with an example. eve-industry.org also has them and an API to get base job costs for any item.
My tool shows these numbers if someone wants them.

It doesn't work like that. The base is the ajdustedprice, based off of market prices, for the items used to build it - not the price of the stuff in your station.
