Thank you.
After I threw a pity party for myself at the net loss of 10 million ISK, having to refit a new Ferox and losing all progress on my (first) trip down to 0.0, I was about ready to quit EvE. All I ever did was rat in lowsec for minuscule profits, then lose it all and start over. Missions were even less fun. And I couldn't even think about surviving in PvP apparently because I needed a bajillion skillpoints to be effective. I've been actively playing for nearly 4 months, I should be making some progress!
And then my corp mates helped me out. They told me fittings which would increase my ability to survive the trek. "You can always buy mods once you get down there" they said. "Your primary objective is getting there in one piece, don't worry about fitting your ship for combat." They told me how to use scanners and scouts and check the map to see likely problem systems and the like. I think it was the first time in EvE I actually used my brain, which you rarely have to do in an MMO.
A few days later, I moved my new Ferox to 0.0 over several hours of careful advance, evading two gate camps and even escaping a bubble. I arrived in the new space and began ratting, and I have already made more ISK in 2 days than I did in weeks in Empire.
The funny thing is, the cash I lost with the destruction of my ship was refunded to me by a very generous fellow CLS pilot. In the end, you destroying my Ferox and podding me on the way to 0.0 was the best thing that could have happened. If I had gotten there without any trouble, I'd still be playing mindlessly and would have lost the opportunity for all those lessons I learned.
I just hope the meager loot you picked off my wreck is sufficient payment for your kind deed, but I doubt it.

Lovely to see someone tackle the game with a bit of thought, intelligence and help from their friends rather than whinging on the forums. --------------

Strangely, the best thing that ever happened to me in EVE was getting podded for the first time. I feel so much more free in EVE now and I'm having so much more fun and making so much more money.
Gankers occasionally do some good, even if it isn't intended.

I dunno about anyone else, but I dont "bring" ships, even moderately expensive ones into 0.0. I take a fast frig or shuttle, maybe with a bpo, nothing too expensive, and go from there.

When I was a true noob, I decided to mine in Amamake so i could sell all that tasty, tasty isogen and buy myself a new Rupture. I got blown up, but not before anchoring several GSC's in one of the belts and filling them with silvery omber(they're still there lol..i've used them as warp-ins on a number of kills/ransoms). I got blown up, then podded, then i sent a rather silly letter to the killing blow(er) on my killmail. That galvanized me to start pirating myself, and I've never looked back. __________________________________ Vale Heavy Industries "We produce many fine products!(Out of yours if neccessary.)" |

You know, I think most people will say that once your pod has been popped for the first time it takes a huge burden off your shoulders.
Sometimes I pack up a cheap ship and head off into the wild blue yonder hoping I can get podded again. It's really rather fun. |

Wow cool, now you get to just hand over your isk to another set of scammers.
Nice to see CLS is recruiting the newer players who don't know any better. Xetic 3 might be an even bigger grab than the previous two.....

Why would they ransom you?
In 0.0 there are no ransom pirates, out there its warfare, if you are not a friend then you are an enemy and most alliances have a KOS policy on non friends.
If on the other hand you were killed by a raider, ie a player not in home space out to hurt the locals then again there is no reason for a ransom as he will expect the target to any minute get reinforcements.
In 0.0 never expect ransoms.
In lowsec be amused if you get ransomed, it happens very seldom in my experience however you should NEVER pay :)

i killed a guy in a retriever that was full of loot recently.
he swore at me in local, then swore at me by text message.
then repeatedly convoed me. i answered 1 convo, he was aking me why i killed him, very angry. i was very patient with him and explained why,and told him he really needed a scout to get through 0.0.
i continued the convo explaining to him, how to make safespots , and how to use the scanner properly to scout for hostiles. by the end of the convo he was a very happy player who knew how to do loads of things he didnt before, and was very greatful for my help.

its almost the right attitude, but i think the op still lacks understanding for why he was killed and is angry by it. theres a touch of na na na na nah to this thread.
to anyone like the op killed like that, your killed like that as you can be. theres nothing more to it than that, and the person who killed you doesnt really care what loot he gets as long as your dead , which you were.

Interestingly enough, that was after he applied to CLS.......
Now let's see if he is still using his brain and discovers the 'quit corporation' selection....

Not sure what the hostility against CLS is all about, they're all really nice guys. They even told me when I signed up that they were going out on a limb recruiting me- I was a six month old character who had been in a newb corp all that time, had no employment history, little experience in PvP and no 0.0 experience, and really had no quality which you look for in a recruit. But I did have a good reference from a friend of theirs and a promise to learn quickly, which I have I think.
Even if CLS was "scamming" me, which they aren't, it would still be better than the pennies I was making back in Empire while chatting in the SWA channel. And I've learned more about EVE and politics and combat than I ever would have in a year in Empire. CLS is probably the best corp I could have chosen to join.
Also, now that I've been in 0.0 a few days it's easier to understand the attitude behind blowing me up for no apparent reason. Even though the region I'm based out of is fairly stable there's always a more guarded feeling that is very different from low sec and completely opposite of Empire. We had a scare the other day when I was moving a pretty valuable cargo to a refinery and a neutral hopped in. Nobody really knew who he was and then someone said he was set with negative standings to them and the whole system was in something of a frenzy. He was promptly popped and no questions were asked. From what I've been told CLS is not short on enemies, and it's likely that I was negative to one of the several corporations represented among my killers. I am sure I would have done the same thing in their shoes.
Also, after having some time to think on it I remembered my first war experience, in the Genesis region with Trade Consortium and a few pirate corps against a bunch of mercs. I was with the TC-pirate force camping a gate for hours upon hours without any sign of action during the opening hours of the war. Finally a hauler popped in and I admit I was in the process of targeting him despite the fact that I would get a negative security status, but the rest of the camp attacked him so fast I didn't even get a chance to get a shot in. I guess when you've been sitting on a gate for hours you really don't think much about other peoples feelings. --------------- Logan Weavend- CLS Pilot and Devoted follower of Cuppism.

Logan's demonstrating the type of attitude more people need to have in EVE. Always be ready to learn
Awww, another emo kid making it out to be a much bigger item than the miniscule annoyance that it is.....
Basically anything to do with Cyvok, STK, CLS or any of the other 'core ex-ASCN' corps is nothing but a scam for the inner circle to make isk off unsuspecting players. Basically the 'lemming effect', they recruit those who don't know any better, tax you on your bounties and mins, build pretty ships for them, etc. When it comes time to defend your space however they are:
1. No where to be seen on the battlefield. 2. Running any infrastructure back up to empire for safe keeping. 3. Spewing internal propaganda to keep the peons fighting.
So if you think you are going to learn anything about the game of Eve being with CLS, I can tell you that if you are very observant, you can witness the aforementioned firsthand. Your better bet would have been to do your research into which corps have a better history. CLS/STK/Xetic crew are nothing more than a group put together to farm isk for the leadership to do with want it wants. Contrary to what Brunswick said, I am only publicizing this because then all the little peons out there have been duly warned beforehand so when the fall of Xetic 3 occurs they have no one but themselves to blame. Plus it is much more fun to sit back at laugh at. I also want a t-shirt that has 'I told you so' on the front and 'Can I have your Stuff?' on the back....
Hey Brunswick, now that Xetic 3 is in progress, did you make it into the inner circle or are you still a peon?
