I just started eve, only just finished the tutorial. I am wondering how to find enough info to start imersing myself in the game and meeting others who like to RP and are willing to help a newbie to start the game.,
I am looking to getting involved in the story elements, if any, and try to work my way into being a known character one day. In the eve universe.
How does one find enough info to get involved in the non mining non combat non basic startup elements of a tradition game and, while doing the basic stuff get involved in the gameplay, story, etc...
Also, when trying to do this is it possible to do so without doing alot of research in the real world and by playing the game and what would I want to look for inorder to start the game this way and how would I meet others who would be interested in having a person with this playstyle?

There are two In Character (IC) parts of the forum. Reading those is certainly one way. What race are you? There's a long running war between the Ushra'Khan (matari freedom fighters) and various Amarr groups (PIE, CVA etc). As far as I know both take young players in, train them and supply the equipment for pvp.

Well the best place to start is reading EVE chronicles, join a RP corporation. Look in the recruitment section for RP corporations. Join one of these. It also depends what you decided to start as (faction). Gallente fighting serpentis and caldari, minmatar fighting amarr and so on.
But you should also concider that RP alliances/corporations are fighting other RP alliances/corporations. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many |

New Eden is a big place; it's going to take you a while to figure out all the little corners and various political wheelings and dealings, and to get a working knowledge of who doesn't like who for what reasons On a general level, you've got various groups of pro-empire, state-supporting alliances, who generally support the party lines that their empire represents. You've got various anti-establishment alliances, that seek to break these organizations down. These include anarchists, rebels, pirates, what have you. You'll have to take some time to discover which of these groups fits your play style and the back story you'd like to craft for yourself.
Most RP corps/alliances have a public IC (In-character) comm for recruitment/etc, so spending time in those places is a great place to start.
Best place to start for your own edification is some of the official eve lore, which are great little short stories/articles that can flesh things out for you that you might be curious about. So for example, if you didn't know that Amarr royalty are barred from cloning technology, the latest short story would help point that out to you. Or if you ever wanted to hear about the battle of Vak 'Atioth where the Jovians whupped up on the Amarr navy, you'll find it there.
The Intergalactic Summit is the main RP forum, although more often than not you'll see the same sorts of threads recycled at nauseum (for example, an anti-slavery/anti-amarr post every week, or an anti-gallente democracy /pro slavery post every other week, etc). It is a great way to keep track of who is fighting who, and you get to know some of the posters pretty fast. It's a good way to find an organization you like, as well.
Anyway hope this helps. Sorry to burst your bubble but there's about a million things to read out of game that will enrich your RP experience, if you so desire.
