The Directive Enforcement Department, Federal Intelligence Office, and Republic Security Services are being disingenuous in their demands that Upwell hand over intel and data they worked and invested to obtain. While I firmly believe it would be in Upwell's favor to share this intelligence with the DED and Federal and Republic security, their demand presumes much upon itself.
The claim that withholding the information could harm the citizens of the respective empires fails to acknowledge their own lack of effort and will in obtaining this so-called vital information. Demanding that Upwell simply hand it over, without compensation for their effort in obtaining it is hypocrisy at it's best. That the DED even mandated this handover should embarrass the organization that claims to police and track against criminal activity within and around the empires. They could at least have offered a fee as they would any mercenary the DED otherwise hires to do their work.
Overall, this mandate by the DED should remind all capsules of New Eden that our efforts and work are looked down upon by these organizations.
To the Upwell Consortium I ask this: share your information with the DED and empires, but do not be bullied into submission by them either. Sharing this information is the humanitarian thing to do. It is the morally right thing to do. But you should not while the DED attempts to strong arm you into submission.

CONCORD and the Federation have helped to create Upwell. Assuming this lack of control over their creation is genuine, then they must accept the responsibility of their actions. Considering CONCORD's response to threats like Sansha or the Drifters, this hasn't been a traditional response.
And seriously? We're the greatest threat to the Federation and the Republic? Have we ganked the Empress of Amarr in HiSec recently? Have we transported millions of civilians off their planets and turned them into cyber-zombies for Sansha Kuvakei? How many people in the Federation die each year due to Serpentis operations? How many more die due the Pendulum war with the Caldari State? A war, I might had, that nets CONCORD and by extension Upwell a LOT of ISK. The Cartel was forged by the Matari people. As I've noted elsewhere, out tattoos are a nod to that heritage. Amarr is still the single greatest threat to the Matari people, followed closely by the Republic itself and CONCORD through again, the Pendulum War.
If Upwell is too big for CONCORD to control, then perhaps organizations like mine are actually some of the best allies the Federation or Republic could have. A slave chain made of ISK is still a slave chain. Are you truly free if you have to purchase your freedom on the market?
Upwell's destruction of a civilian shipyard over an inhabited planet will not go unanswered. Nor will we sit idly by and allow ourselves to be preyed upon to maintain CONCORD's status quo. You call us criminals. You say we commit acts of piracy. You say we are killers, slavers, that we peddle drugs and prostitutes. It's true. all of it (). But what we don't do is lie about it. We don't hide behind a facade of "morality."
People once assumed that the Empire couldn't be fought, but the Matari, the Khanid, the Bloodraiders, the Jove and finally the Drifters proved them wrong. People once assumed the Federation was too big, that no one could stand up to them. The Caldari proved them wrong; their own drones proved them wrong. People once thought the Goons could never be taken down. The MBC proved them wrong.
People think Upwell is too wealthy, CONCORD is too powerful.
They are wrong.

Might be a product of a Caldari upbringing but I'm with Upwell on this one.
The thing about for profit corporations is that you can trust them to act like for profit corporations. Of course you still need your wits about you but it does lend a certain predictability to their actions.
But you can't trust a stellar government to act like anything other than a bunch of random idiots with conflicting agendas who only think they know whats best and CONCORD is no better.

It may be in our best interest to get this information for ourselves.

Why is a "space industrial" corporation making armed assaults on criminal fortresses and confiscating military-grade blueprints and hardware to begin with?
More than simply confiscating these plans, CONCORD needs to get to the root of the issue and stop being so permissive of private military enterprises and the proliferation of military-grade arms and warships among independent groups--including capsuleers. |

Stealing blueprints is corporate espionage, happens all the time and is highly profitable and thus, as was said earlier, within the predictable realm of behavior for a for-profit corporation.
I just didn't think they had the balls to be so gung-ho about it. Good show, lads.

Stealing the blueprints for a new, fancy holoprojector vs stealing the blueprints for something that could destroy a planet are very different things my friend.

Like how CONCORD got to the root of things like Sansha incursions or Empress Jamyl's assassination?

Both Federal and Republican regimes are semi-criminal agressive entities, whose well being doesn't correspond with well being of regular citizens.

So lets make a decent licensing offer and turn it into something that offers them immediate financial advantage, no need to go stealing something if we can persuade them to simply give it to us after all.
And yes I am aware of the potential costs of doing that, there are plenty of organisations or even individuals who have the resources and could be persuaded to help.
