Hello guys, I need a clarification about WH timers when not opened.
My corporation always told me that we are safe for 3 hours when closing our static wormhole (unless a dynamic one opens). We live in a C5 with a C4 static (E175). E175 are known for having a 16 hours lifespan instead of a 24 one.
According to eve blog, a static WH timer (K162 side) has a chance to open every few minutes once less than 15 hours left. So that means that when we collapse our static we are only safe 1 hour right ? |

1. Wormholes do not instantiate until warped to. 2. Once warped to, a timer starts so that when the hole has 15 hours left on it, it will have a (high) chance to open and create a K162 in the target system. For 16 hour holes this is 1 hour, for 24 hour holes, this is 9 hours from warp to. 3. Once jumped, a K162 is created in the target system.
Point #1 is crucial. You never have to worry about a hole opening automatically if you or anyone else never warps to it.

umm pretty sure this is dead wrong...but please, by all means keep thinking your statics are closed.

PS: Good work on the maths OP, 16 minus 15 does in fact equal 1. i checked it on my calculator so it's true.

The highlights of the post Hats posted:
As of Hyperion, we are planning to have K162 signatures appear as soon as the first player jumps through their wormhole connection
Although K162 signatures will not appear as soon as a player warps to them (as they do currently), they will have a random chance to appear every several minutes once the wormhole connection has less than 15 hours of natural lifetime remaining. |

- K162 signatures become immediately visible when someone jumps through the wormhole connection for the first time.
- IF the K162 signature is in an invisible state and the wormhole connection has less than 15 hours of lifetime remaining, it will have a chance of becoming visible every few minutes, balanced so that virtually all K162s will appear within a couple hours or less from this point.
This will ensure that if people choose not to warp through their wormhole connections after warping to them, the wormhole systems on the other side will still gain the ability to use that connection eventually.

If you don't warp to a wormhole at all, it will act in the same way that it does now. However since players will now get a less extreme early warning when a new connection that exits in their system appears and we're adding more random wormhole connections, this should help a little bit with the isolation problem.
So if no one warps to the static it does not spawn K162 at all - you are isolated. I saw static sigs persist in closed systems for days. |

Not sure if your version of English is different to mine but everything you just posted has just reiterated what we said:
1. K162 Won't spawn unless you jump through it, warping to it will not create a K162 2. However the K162 will have a chance to appear when the wormhole has less than 15 hours of life 3. I've never seen statics last more than their intended lifetime and have also seen people come into a wormhole through a static that has never been jumped. |

Only if K162 is in a invisible state. For the K162 to be in a invisible state, someone has to warp to the static. If no one warps to the static, there is no K162. |

Well, Fozzie went as far as putting the relevant "if" in capitals ("IF the K162 signature is in an invisible state and the wormhole connection has less than 15 hours ..."). So yes, your version of english might be somewhat non-standard. Or perhaps your're just peddling misinformation? Either way, let me point you to another usefull post from that follow-up thread:

Today, there is a bug letting people completely isolate in w-space or get stuck. Statics & rando's aren't respawning. |
