Hey, so I saw the new offer from CCP this morning for the 3 month game time with the 3 month multiple characters training certificate and thought "why not".
From the description I thought that meant that my other characters on this account (x2) would both be allowed to access the training certificates and would both then be allowed to start training up. I thought that's what the CharacterS part meant. Apparently not?!
So what is the purpose of the MCTC? Is it not just as good value then (and with other benefits) to get an additional account?
I'm pretty bummed out about it, though glad I found out through the deal rather than paying for it in full! |

Normal sub price is 14.95 month A plex is 19.95 and is good for a month
19.95 +14.95 = 34.90 x3 =104.70 -38.85 for the offer = $65.85 cheaper.
An MTC allows you to train one additional alt at the same time as your main ( or other alt) so you can have 2 of 3 alts training. Dont know if its possible to train 3 alts at same time, but if so you would need an MTC for each alt.
Edit: a MTC cost a plex and i just verified you can train all 3 alts at the same time. ( requires 2 plexes and 1 sub per month)
Is it a good deal? Yes if you want to train an alt on that account without interrupting the training of another character. |

Thanks for the response, I agree completely: it is definitely cheaper. However, in the normal pricing context, is there any benefit to the MCTC over an additional sub?
I've thought about it a bit more (probably should do that BEFORE posting) and I suppose that by training an alt you still have access to that character even when the MCTC runs out. That wouldn't be the case for an additional sub. |

That wouldn't be the case for an additional sub. a second account is cheaper than doing a MTC on an alt. However most people that would use this ( such as me) would use this to train alts to do very specific tasks. Such examples might be : hauler alt, industry/research alt, trade alt, scout, cyno, explorer, PI, etc. Thus having 2-5 mil SP is plenty to make the alt useful.
Whereas having a second account the main on that account would be trained for more skill intensive tasks such as a pve/pvp alt, cap/super/JF pilot, booster, etc.

I thought that's what the CharacterS part meant. Apparently not?!
What 'S' part?
It's called Multiple Character Training |

I think it was on the ad for teh offer. I can't actually find it now though since I've taken up the offer...
It did say it somewhere though, it wasn't in the main title but in the description of the offer.

The utility of a mctc comes from being able to stop.the training and not lose access to the character (provided you keep the main sub up). If you cancel the sub you loose access to the whole account instead So that's where the advantage lies. |

Does anyone know how the alt training time is automatically applied?
If you already have a 2nd char on the account does it go to the 2nd char or does it create MCT time on the unsed 3rd char? Which slot does it go to if you already have 3 characters on the account? |

It gives you two active simultaneous skill queues. You can pause the queue on your second character and start the queue on a third midway through the month if you want |

Yeah that was the conclusion that I came to yesterday as well and so it made a little more sense! I suppose it means that I can pick up these sorts of deals should they pop up again to keep skilling up other alts.
Thanks! |
