Quote:Hi Space Friends,
The current range that warp bubbles are effective (how far from your destination they can pull you out of warp) is a little unclear. This has lead to some 'interesting' possibilities, such as bubble camping a gate with a citadel.
With the 118.7 patch, we are considering changing the maximum distance for a warp bubble (mobile, probe or hictor bubble) to effect a warp to be 500km.
This means only warp disruption bubbles that are 500km in-front or behind your warp destination, which are inline with your warp, will pull you out of warp early or drag you.
What do you think? We'd love your feedback!
This would drastically change wspace. For the worse imo.

Why would they change bubbles to fix an issue with citadels? |

You dont understand the new mechanic...
"This means only warp disruption bubbles that are 500km in-front or behind your warp destination, which are inline with your warp, will pull you out of warp early or drag you." - CCP Larrikin
So if you bubble a wormhole and you want to warp inside of that bubble to the wormhole you will be dragged from any distance away.
But if you place a bubble 501km behind the wh and you warp to that wh then you will not be dragged.
So if your warp destination is inside bubbles you will still be stopped at the edge of the first bubble you hit up to 500km infront of your target.

What on earth for...
Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

I'm a bit confused too.
Before the huge grid sizes, bubbles could drag about 250km (previous grid size). If implemented, this change would allow you do drag over 500km.
Could you point out why this would drastically change wspace? |

When I woke up and saw the CCP post either my lack of coffee or the odd wording of the post through me off.
Noob's explanation is much more better.

Bubbles currently drag out to 1000km, they want to change it to 500km.

The issue is, you can put a citadel in line to a gate, then bubble your own citadel, when people get stuck on the bubble you can then nuke them with citadel guns.
Limiting the range to 500 would keep you from being able to do this since the bubble would be no further than 500km from the gate, and would never put you into citadel range.
Finally, This effects wormhole space only in that it decreases the range at which a bubble is effective from where its anchored. The line of site rule is unchanged so it really should not increase the odds that you can be bubbled, only the distance from an object which you can land.
Since as stated above the old range was 1000km this would mean bubbling you closer to your destination. Primarily an issue for campers preventing you from docking at your own pos/citadel. Which would actually imo make it easier for the resident. since they would be max 500km from the citadel/pos and closer to protective turret range instead of a max 1000km. |
