Edited by: Kurull Skullsplitter on 05/03/2007 17:24:47 Not sure where to post this. Can't find a petition category for it either.
I'm loosing ISK because the wrecks in my levels 4 missions are popping before I can get to them for salvage. I'm counting on the loot and salvage rigs as part of my ISK generating process.
Since one of the patches it seems the pirate rats take longer to kill. I don't mind that too much as it makes the game a bit more of a challenge; a bit more fun.
But the result all to often is that by the time I've cleared a section the early wrecks have gotten too old and are almost timed out and popped. Just so you know. I salvage each section as I clear it. I don't wait until I've finished them all.
This problem isn't as bad in the easier missions as long as I don't encounter any problems I can often get a section cleared and salvaged fast enough. But any of the tougher missions always results in lost wrecks.
And before you tell me to do it. I frequently run missions with a mate. Even then this is still a problem. I'm bounty farming Worlds Collide right now with a mate. Even with a mate helping I am losing wrecks on the inside sections because of the time.
I don't want to run the missions with any more mates. The bounty ISK is not good enough for the effort if I have to split it too far. And frankly it is pretty hard sometimes to get mates together long enough to make a a good long day of mission running.
My Salvage skill is at lvl 4. I salvage using a Hurricane fitted with 4X Tractors, 4X Salvager I, and 1X 100MN AB. I can't conceive of a faster salvage ship than that.
I want to know where to complain officially to CCP about this. And I welcome any suggestions folks might have to change something I could be doing wrong.
Thank you kindly for the responses I know will be made ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Relationships are ours to make; we define them, day by day, by who we choose to love and how we choose to love them. And, by these choices, define ourselves. Richard N. Patterson |

kill faster or salvage after each stage instead of the end. only time i have this problem is if i complete 1 mission get another goodies in same system then I'll do it too. Then when I get my salvager the first mission first stage might disappear but most of the time not.
give us more info, what missions, how long is it taking you to complete, you salvaging after each stage or mission.
hope my answer is not interpreted as demeaning, its a valid tactic.
if complaining to CCP, 2 ways 1) hit escape and there is a petition option 2) F12 i think gives you petition as well

You don't have time to finish a single section before the wrecks start popping? And you have a mate to help you?
Either something's seriously wrong, or you are really slow...
I play solo and for most missions I have time to finish the entire mission, fly home and report to my agent, hop into my destroyer and salvage without missing a single wreck. Sometimes I figure I only have time for one or two sections, but not even one? Dude, that'd be messed up...

Edited by: Pang Grohl on 05/03/2007 17:38:23 I would suggest getting a mate to run a salvage fitted ship concurrently with the mission. A destroyer, or a Myrmidon, if the extra damage capacity/tank is needed.

I run lvl4s in a Myrmidon, and loot in a Catalyst. I don't seem to have a problem with wrecks popping too fast. You're just not killing/looting fast enough.

the original post clearly indicates I salvage after each section
and there is no appropriate petition category to make the complaint or I would have used it

This is a good idea. Not sure it will be able to work that way for every mission. But will try it as able. that was my initial assessment as well
My dps skills are not maxed out so I probably do take more time to kill the rats than someone else might. But they still seem to take a long time even with my mate running a Drake with my Phoon.
But part of my complaint (I guess it didn't occur to me to type it out as I was concentrating on the other aspects) is that I should not have to "hurry" to the wrecks to loot. "Salvage" takes at lesat twice as long as the old looting methods did and CCP should have put a longer timer on the wrecks for that reason alone when they made the salvage patch.

I've changed my setup to include 3X BC II which increased my cruise damage by a little over 29%. That has helped.

That should make a difference. Lets say you do 200dps, and the enemy tanks 150dps. That means you only do 50 dps total. If you increase your damage to, say, 260dps, that means you are doing 90dps on the same enemy after he repairs so thats almost double. Again thats just an example on how big a difference damage mods makes vs time. --

It's an ISK sink, the time spent looting/salvaging is in place running another missions.
Granted you could make some decent ISK if you sell your salvage or built rigs with it but it's boring as hell, it's almost more fun mining. Just another way to slow you down and encourage multi capsuleer engagements.
Try fitting 1 tractor beam to your ship, and pull cans into a neat pile while you shoot the enemy. Return with a looter/salvager and you'll spend less time flying around.
Optimal suggestion is fly with a wingman.

Edited by: Bartom Dekkar on 07/03/2007 13:33:30 I just did WC level 4 in a Drake. With the damage output it took a long time, but I still had time to switch to a destroyer and loot each stage as I did it. I agree, though, it would be nice to have more time. If you salvage in your BC/BS as you go I can see how it would take too long, but if you use a dedicated salvage ship you should be faster.
Also, about the farming WC: in the long run I think it is better to close that mission and go to another one to accumulate LP faster. Several level 4 missions have payouts similar to WC, so I think you will make out better that way.
Edit:
I agree with the above poster about damage output, it makes a huge difference. I was using T2 Heavy launchers (t1 missiles) and 2 BCU II. I probably killed the smaller stuff faster than you did. Before I could use the T2 launchers, I was much slower.
