Right now I'm just getting back into the game and all the things have to offer for it. The corp I'm in right now, the people are very nice. It's been a year since I've played and I don't know if this is off or not. When corp chat is active and people are talking with each other I usually just do my own thing. I'll do ratting solo in anoms for the day and I'll just mute the alliance and corp chat but keep only local and intel open. I feel like that's pretty odd but at the same time, other people have done it as well. |

oh sorry, I faded out when I was making that post and just went into a little spiel. I don't know if that is weird for me to be doing when coming back or if it's a normal thing to do while getting back into the game and joining a new corp/alliance. |

It's always a good idea to make your self useful to a corp if they are doing team oriented things. If I remember the Blood Cov is based in Lowsec ish and will do roams and such you can always join in on the those. Or help them with there POCO empire that I think they still have. (Maybe they don't I don't I've lost track of them a while a go)
But every group has it's quite folks. So don't feel bad if you not the life of the party or if you don't feel like getting on a TS server.

No we live up in Deklein now and are just getting setup after all this war ending. They do roams from time to time but recently I've just been feeling like doing nothing with others. |

@ OP: Pyschologically theres a lot of reasons to do different things in a corporation. The main part is being social or at least having the desire to be social even if you are not the prototypical socialite. Not everyone is a high self monitor, or a social butterfly, and not everyone has to be. It takes all sorts to make the world go round.
Like Valkin Mordirc said, find a niche and fill it for your corp that you are comfortable with as a person and individual within a group collective to fill. One you enjoy doing helps a bunch and where you dont feel "used" by the collective. Feeling used, be it within a social group of family, friends or work, will cause immensely fast burnout and will literally make you hate the game. It will also cause you to withdraw more and more if you stay until you no longer come out of your shell to interact with people. Often times people will go through phases of intense social interaction and withdraw. These can be signs of manic depressive symptoms but honestly most arent as most people if they answered a psych eval honestly would literally have 3-6 issues wrong with them in the DSM. And thats being generous to most people. But most are functioning or highly functioning individuals so most people overlook stuff like that.
Find a niche you enjoy and fill it. It can bring a nice social portion to your life within Eve. Oh yeah and dont forget... people are asshats.... dont let it get to you too much either. Just be yourself and try your best. Cant really ask for much more tbh.
Btw Im an antisocial prick. I dont dance around insanity I dive headfirst into it. I just log in and at least try to interact even though most days Id sooner rip everyones head off and **** down their necks for looking at me funny. And no... that isnt me being funny, just brutally honest.
Enjoy Eve.
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?
That's right.
Had to end sometime.

Wars never end! (Right?) *consults Sun Tzu*
Nobody talks in local...so...nvm (if you're having conversations there I want some of what you're smoking.)
There's three types of people in this world; those who actively engage their fellows and get something going, and those who sit around waiting for someone else to make things interesting, then when that doesn't happen, spend more time complaining that it isn't, than they do trying to get something to happen.
(Or, was that those who can count, and those who can't? ) ANYWAY
CEOs aren't responsible to provide you with entertainment, unless that entertainment is corporate activity. Believe it or not (EVERYBODY) it is YOUR responsibility to get conversations up and running in corp chat. It's YOUR responsibility to make the intercourse (no, not that kind) commence.
I have no sympathy or respect for anyone coming in here saying they avoid their corp chat, and only do local, cause corp chat is boring. If you are trying to get people involved and engaged and they refuse, join another corp. That's EVIDENCE the one you're in sucks. If you AREN'T trying, don't tell me about it. I'm not interested.
(I prefer to keep the local chat tab in front and enjoy how QUIET the universe can be!)

I don't complain about corp chat or alliance chat being boring. In fact it's quite busy both channels and on TS. I grew up doing things solo most the time so that maybe my reason for just keeping to myself and just doing things I enjoy unless it's something important for the corp. |

Well, it's a bit odd, to be honest. You're in a corp, officers like to see people interacting with each other. I'd make an effort; participate in their activities, and who knows, maybe you'll end up enjoying it. The point of the game is social interaction; they're not asking to be your friends in RL or intrude in your life in any way; just play the game with the group as expected, and maybe put in a word of praise when they organize some big op and it succeeds (because that's effort on their part, and a few words of praise can be a very good reward for them). |

As long as we are giving random anecdotes about ourselves, I had a turkey sandwich for lunch yesterday. It was OK, but the bread was a little tough. I used rye, which is usually one of my favorite kinds of bread. |

OP I can see your point & in my opinion there is nothing wrong with your approach to the game.
After all EvE is a sandbox & we make of it what we will.
I have a character in a null PvP corp & the social interaction is fun. I also have several other characters & one that I use when my want is to run "solo".
That said EvE's main attraction to many people (& the hardest thing I've found) is finding the right group of people to do stuff with & have fun while doing it. If your current corp doesn't provide that then you are not being a good corporate citizen & should move on to search for a more suitable corp. |
