Ok ... This is a brilliant idea ... and I should know because it's mine I looked for an existing topic and didn't find one, so let me know if I should be posting somewhere else.
So here's what I think ...
What if ...
- Players could train up in a new skill (or set of skills) called "Training"
- Training in "Training" would allow you to train another player in a skill you are already trained in (up to one level below your current trained level)
- The training time would be split between the two players (maybe not an even split? maybe the total split time is more than the time to train solo?)
- The advantage is that the player being trained does not need a book to learn the skill
- The cost is that both players pay training time (or SP) for the training
- Perhaps this kind of training could only occur within a corp?
- No trainer would be able to train past level 4 (3?) but the player being trained could devote time or SP to finish his training after initial training is completed.
- There could be a whole new career track called "training" and trainers could sell their services.
- Maybe trainers need a skill for training each skill set ... one for weapons, one for ships, etc...
- Once contracted, training could not cease until completed or until both parties agree to cease.
This idea needs a little development, but I really do think it would be huge. And potentially profitable for some players.
Hey ... How about a lifetime of free play for this one? heh.
... no ... seriously ... how about it?

So basically you are proposing making it faster to train an alt/newbie by an old player sacrificing their SP? You do realise that this is already exactly what Skill Injectors are? Except they already cover a wider range of possibilities. |

Yeah ... I see that as a problem too ... but I don't think it would work exactly as you say. And no one would train their own alt because it would cost more in SP than just doing it yourself. And I'm not suggesting sacrificing SP exactly, just that both the trainer and the trainee would have to commit time (or purchase and spend SP) to complete the training. Less cost in time and SP for each, but more cost overall.
Maybe training still requires a book, but the time is shared? There are definitely some bugs, but I think this is really worth a discussion.

Skill Injectors are exactly what you are talking about already. You get an Extractor as the trainer, you extract the sp, you sell them to the trainee for profit, the trainee saves time. Some SP is lost in the equation depending on the trainees skill level.
You are literally talking about a second more restricted version of skill injectors. |

Eve used to have learning skills. A devblog on why they're gone: https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/learning-skills-are-going-away-1/
Those who want to speed up the learning process today have several options:
* Attribute remap * Attribute implant * Learning booster (loot drop from special events) * Skill injector
Bear in mind that none of these speed up the acquisition of "player skills" - only "character skills".

that took a little longer than I thought but remember when I said, one day they will ask for this, when they removed the learning skills.

This is the first time I have actually been excited to see a player get absolutely decimated by trolls.

Definitely tracking this thread. Welcome to "player features and ideas discussion", pour yourself a nice deep brandy and spark up a cigar to nurse forever.
