new to eve, and although not a pirate, I was just curious how you maintain your ships, buy new ships, etc... when you have a low security status. Shouldn't every station be attacking you on site? Where is your sanctuary?

Your sanctuary is Low-Sec or No Sec, anywhere there isn't Navy/Concord and you're fine until you make an engagement(Global Criminal Countdown).

most pirates get around the sec status limitation by using an alt char (blank space where you can create a new character on character selection screen) and having him train Gallente Industrial, or Amarr Industrial etc. this is known as a hauler alt. while your alt will endanger himself by travelling through lowsec, often times a solo pirate will go to a border zone, where 0.4 is bordering a 0.5 safe empire system, so that the hauler alt only has to warp to the lowsec station. pirate corps usually employ the use of communal hangars, where 1 or several people in the corp use hauler alts for everyone else. there are corp hangars, but what i think he means is that you might not personally need a hauler alt, just ask someone else to get you stuff with theirs

That's a Templar, an Amarrian fighter, used by carriers.

there are stations in < 0.4 space although they are more sparce than high sec they work just like stations in high sec. As for communal hangers. If you get into a corp with a pos they have communal hangers the whole corp can use that arnt really divided by user. these are great for 0.0 where stations are very rare and usually wont let you dock uless your friendly to the faction or alliance

a basic hauler alt is certainly worth your time training, just to bring you cruisers etc. I personally invested in a t2 one which i got fairly cheaply off the sell orders forum.

You'll probably find that if your sec drops too far you'll have trouble getting hold of battleships from highsec unless you have a friend who can fly them, an alt, or a freighter.
Other than that a Tech 2 industrial will do the job pretty well and can handle anything up to and including a battlecruiser with a rack of cargo expanders.
It's not that hard getting hold of new stuff from empire, you just need to plan ahead a little
If you need any more help, evemail me in game if you want.

Never had any problems finding stuff. I do however find lowsec far more barren than 0.0. Unless you're in an alliance you have to stick to local npc stations (If there are any). I lurk around stain, and lemme to you, the market sucks, its truly awful, but I still have access to whatever I need inside 20 jumps. Keeping it simply requires caution, friends (more like people that at least don't hate you. Which in Stain is as good as it gets.), and a high skill level in cloaking (And a cloak ofc).
