Hello guys,
I've been away from the game for 3+ years now (and I wasn't very knowledgeable before anyway) and I need your help to choose a ship.
What I like to do in game is exploration. So the easy answer is the Tech II frigate. But when I explore data/relic sites in a WH, they are protected and I can't deal with the NPCs in my Cheetah.
So what ship should I aim towards ? Loki ? (I think that was what people used back in the days) The new SoE ships, but what size would I need (and they are expensive) ? What about the Gnosis ? I don't see that ship in the ship tree but I've found a fit in my fitting window (go figure). Or should I just simply discover the sites in my frigate and they come back with a Battle Cruiser running the risk of the site being discovered and emptied by someone else ?
Secondly, I also like to slavage after I run the combat sites. Am I better of doing it my destroyer or the ORE Noctis is worth it ?
Thank you guys for your help.

The Stratios is good for exploration and able to take a couple punches. My suggestion for running sites in WH space with most versatility is probably the Tengu. Can be used to get out of bubbles very easily if a WH exit is only into Null. Covert Ops to actually cloak and stay hidden while scanning and you'll be able to run sites and run relic/data sites whenever you clear the sites. That's my two cents.
As for the salvager, I'm in the same boat where I can't decide between a destroyer or Noctis... Destroyers are very cheap and versatile, the cost of a catalyst rigged and fully fitted for salvaging costs roughly 17M while the Noctis cost around 98 - 120M depending on how you fit it. So in reality it's a matter of how much you wish to spend.
The catalyst fit I have for salvaging can hold 1.46k m^3 but as for the noctis that can hold around 3k m^3

Thanks a bunch for your reply.
Would the Loki be a good alternative to the Tengu since I'm Minmatar ? It would greatly reduce the cost of training.
I guess I'll stick with the destroyer. My Thrasher isn't well equipped yet but it does the job and is indeed very cheap.
Any other thoughts anyone ? |

-Maykid The noctis salvages faster than a destroyer. I drop an MTU in a haven in my ratter. Go back in a noctis to pick it up and i run 6 salvagers on it and im constantly busy locking targets and turning on salvagers. I can salvage an entire haven in about 3-5 minutes. I dont think mine is even rigged.
Really you have to look at the cost vs salvaging speed vs speed to get there. For missions or multi room plexes that were a few jumps out i would consider a destroyer. In my situation the noctis works best.

There's a massive difference between a Dessie salvager and a Noctis...I use both.
With a dessie I'm stuck with a tractor range of 24km, with a Noctis that goes up to 96km.
Using an mtu is ok if you are salvaging a single room, but in multiple rooms you need a lot of space for them if you intend to drop and go back, 100m3 each.
I use the dessie for sites where the Noctis isn't allowed, and that's the only place it's used.
Also, I normally use a 5/3 split, tractors salvagers, but that's just down to choice.
Btw, my salvager is on a second account so it can follow me if needed. |

Since you are Minmatar you can go with the Loki, has great scanning skills, versatile in going into WH's. Might not tank as much as a Tengu but will still get the job done. I don't believe I have a fit for the Loki though, but I'm sure if you look at zkillboard's you'll be able to find a fit for WH exploration/combat site runner.
Also on the plus side the Loki will probably be cheaper than the Tengu. If you find a fit I would try it on SiSi first before you actually go into tranq. and lose a real Loki due to the fact you won't lose skills on SiSi trying different Loki fits.
Hope this helps!

Loki only really works with Autos, but with all the webbing in C3 sites, getting into range to apply good dps will be hard at times. Hell I was struggling with Legion which has 12km optimal with conflag. Had to use Scorch when BS wave would spawn too far away..... |
