If I have a PvP character and a manufacturing character on the same account...
Will I be able to log-on the manufacturing character, start a production job, log-off the manufacturer, log-on and play my PvP character while the other character's production job progress until it is complete, log-off the PVP character, log-on the manufacturer, retrieve my completed product, start a new job, and repeat...?
Thanks in advance.

Yes.
I do this quite often.
Basically I save up a bunch of materials until I have a fair bit... pop everything in the oven... then go and do what I want. I'll log back in to the manufacturing character the next day and then move it around accordingly.
You can also do the same thing when it comes to selling. Put some stuff on the market, log off, log in, and then do something on another character.

Manufacturing jobs, research jobs, PI, invention etc... can all be done on an alt as a matter of fact you can load up both characters full to the limit with jobs and market orders etc... and they all continue along with no interference.
I would estimate that it is very common for PvP characters to have an industrial / market / PI / hauling alt. |

Example:
There's me and then there's my much smarter cousin (alt), who looks better in a lab coat and heels than I do. Notice her science skills compared to mine, and yet I still consider myself an industrialist.
As an example of a 6 month science alt, there is my other cousin. It only took about 6 PLEX to get her an education. |

Damn Tau... you got skillz!
Drones could use some work though.

I don't personally use drones a lot (Hobgoblin II vs. frigates when in cruisers and larger is about the extent of my usage), as I have two other alts that are dedicated drone-boat pilots: my shadow, and my assistant.
It has come around to be time to train drones myself though. When you reach a certain level of skill points, you start training skills that you don't rely on much, just to keep the training queue full.
Something for new players to keep in mind: older players may have more skill points, but not all of those skill points apply to the current ship being flown. |

Thanks, all, for the responses. I didn't think there was any reason (at this point in time) for me to spend money on a second account for a production alt. I'm glad to get confirmation. |

You could run the math and figure out where the better deal is. Sometimes it's more cost effective to train the alt up on another account and then pay to have it transfered over. You would have to figure out about how long you plan on training the alt and check into what deals they have running currently. |
