As i would like to see them used more or equal to combat drones i would like to know would this idea be viable...it goes something like this.....
Only one drone can be launched and you need to decide either 5 dmg drones or 4 + 1 but the thing is that one drone doesn't suck anymore it is actually a viable choose to use it.
So for say small web drone it have strong web like 50% and is armored almost like regular med drone you get the picture
Med one is much the same but heavy pack two 50% webs and can web 2 targets(cant double down on single) at the same time armor 2x times like combat heavy(Gecko-ish)....etc.
Also merging those two sub groups of drone so drone can mount both web and say TP .
Also for the love of all things BOB don't give Gallente bonus for those.
Opinions away.

I was thinking about ewar drones too but I didn't like both of my ideas yet.
Anyhow, I like this one drone approach of yours and would suggest that only one of each (ewar) drone can be launched at any time and they keep their stacking just like ships do when you shoot one and the next web only does 89.8%-ish of 60% and so on, so bring more, won't do more, at least not much.
A per strength, I was thinking a light drones gets 50% strength (or in that case a 50% web) and a medium gets 55% and the heavy drone gets the full 60% web. You get the idea. Same goes for target painting (weeh a drones that's usefull..), sensor dampening, target disruption (turrets or missiles from the same drone - booya.
And my favorite ECM drones with 1 point for the light ecm-300 Hornet, 2 points for the ecm-600 Vespa and 3 points for the ECM-900 Wasp.
All of them get their optimal changed to 12km and 8km falloff.
5 of them can be launchers if you have the bandwidth but they need to be all different.

Good points numbers can be figured out,
Reason i mention only one e/u drone can be launched(possibly more if t2 ship and or bonuses) is i made em powerful enough in my case that if 5 can be launched from ship that don't really count on them as source of dps but rather secondary/complimentary weapon system that ship just launched 5 medium offensive slots in space that move too.
Sounds a tad OP for how i imagined them ie boss drone that warrant pilot to chose it over full flight of dmg drones to one boss drone flanked by 4 friendly dmg drones.
Trade of from full on dps or extra game play if you wish that various combos would provide not to mention ships with minuscule drone bays and bandwidth aren't gonna be so limited in options,packing two of these bad boys instead of two warriors is no brainier even if you cant launch them at same time.
All in all anything to move em from unusable since beginning to somewhere better i am open to opinions.

While we are at it, I just had the idea of remote assist drones, as in remote tracking, sensor boosting, maybe even a turret optimal and falloff / missiles range increasing drone could be added.
Just experimenting with the idea.

I do think that EWAR drones could use a buff, but you're making them too strong in my opinion. With that, you trade off 5mb/5m3 of drone bandwith/bay to save a slot on fitting AND give your web ridiculous range. Granted, your web could be shot down, but if you're launching mutliple web drones from a ship whose primary weapon is not drones that could get pretty overpowered pretty fast.
Let me put it this way: Imagine an Orthrus. Now imagine the Orthrus has Daredevil webs with 40km range.
I'm going to build a big wall that will keep the Gallente out, and they're going to pay for it!

EWAR drones should come in the Heavy flavour so as to have limitations with bandwidth and drone bay. And ECM drones are cancer. |

How about drones adopt fighters 'launch tube' ideas? Then you could have 'support drone tube' on the actual drone ships, but not every ship. And that would handle your launch only one idea. And it adds another element to controlling drone power, as you can have a ship with high bandwidth, but only a couple of tubes, which makes it disposed towards heavy drones, etc. And you don't have to have any support tubes on a ship at all, so you can control the utility of drones on non drone ships from getting too excessive if you want.
Though Carriers need dedicated support tubes also to make them actually work, the mixed tubes pretty much will always become damage tubes like present. But the principle is there and would work for drones also. (Though they need to be able to receive reps still, or become a lot tankier which would make them too tanky, but fighters are too squishy atm) |
