Much to my dismay, Miss Funk has informally terminated me from her employment yesterday.
Took me a while to realize this because she didn't even had the decency of writing me a letter of dismissal or even send me a pink slip! How rude! My first immediate thought was that I should send a really salty letter describing the injustice of being laid off so nonchalantly. Then I remembered that Miss Funk is a cold blooded killer that eats people, so I kinda relented from doing that.
Then I had this idea! Publicly dirty laundry her reputation for everyone to see how much of a bad boss she was for doing what she did, but then we go back the whole "she eats people" debacle and that puts me back on square one. There's only so much bad publicity one can get before they start using it as a badge of honor, and Miss Funk is the textbook case for it!
Guess I was not much of a Blood Raider. I'm not religious, I don't drink bodily fluids, the only person I've killed was an acquaintance of mine and that was after I paid him off to let me kill him, and red doesn't suit me. I spent most of my time during the past weeks stuck on my laboratory doing backlogged research and that left me very little time to actually mingle with my corporation, so, mea culpa. Plus there was that one time I was threatened with being fired for wearing my Guristas Jacket, and that bothered me really badly to a point I just stopped caring. Oh well...
Do I regret my short time as a Blood Raider? Not really. It had its fun moments, it had plenty of ISK to line my wallet and I met a whole lot of people, good and bad. Got to live in Nullsec, did a lot of research, managed to learn how to pilot a Jackdaw and I got to kill Sansha in droves! It was a positive experience!
Problem is where to go from here... Am I damaged goods for working for Miss Funk? Nothing that being biomassed won't fix in the long run... Guess I'll go back to be a lone wolf. But I would want to hear some suggestions first! Although I don't see myself being hired by anyone ever again since I'm a cutesy but obnoxious pirate wannabee...

I didn't see you doing anything terrible yourself, and lots of capsuleers bring way more death to the cluster than you ever saw. Of course you aren't damaged, you just need to decide what you want for yourself. Even CONCORD will forget that you was a pirate for a handful of isk, and getting isk for a capsule pilot isn't that hard task.
You know, I used to be a pirate wannabee myself. But I got better.

The only issue I could see is the fact I don't know of you really for much, no I don't mean you are bad or anything but merely your not on my radar atleast as far as what your goals and motives are. That is far from being a bad thing, everyone has to start somewhere after all. |

Take it from me. Going freelance is, well, not bad.
However, no safety net. None whatsoever. That's the only downside.

Well, your absolutely right. If you find the people who want similar things and reach out to them you might be surprised with what can happen. Going alone I can't recommend, I've just had bad experiences with it. That doesn't mean it won't work for others. |

As far as I can tell, and as much as I wanted to, I can't for the life of me be a real pirate. I find myself incapable of hurting anyone unless I have a reason to do it! And it's a sheer miracle I don't crash my ship each time I undock!
Setting up my old corp and see where it goes from there is an option I guess. Maybe enlist in the war and get my stripes, while doing errands in Highsec. I don't have problems being alone, I just have problems in being good at anything other than science. |

Well, no safety net, no reliable intel and no backup. I forgot to add the first two into the list of downsides of being freelancer.
Oh, and no other capsuleers will buy you a glass of whiskey at his own expense if you freelance. Being a freelancer invites all manner of suspicion and hushed whispers. I had learnt to roll with it.

I don't have problems being alone, I just have problems in being good at anything other than science. There's a science behind fleet warfare and combat in general. Don't like the idea of killing? Logistics would be a great route for you as long as you get in with the right people who will help you progress down that path. Another option would be getting practice with Spectre Fleet, they usually love people who specifically join to be logistics.
I'd think a group like signal cartel would take you in, that or arc related groups maybe (they might have an issue with your employment history, though I don't speak for them or know a thing about their recruitment, ect.)
Whatever you end up doing, you'll do fine in the end. It may not feel like it is at the time, but that feeling is only your heart telling you to press on. |

Sheesh, that's a tough situation. And I think it was the right call not to air the dirty laundry. Blood Raiders can be, well a little light on the sense of humor side so I hear.
Listen, I think this might be a blessing in disguise, a chance to really take some time and take stock of where you want to be in say 5 or 10 years. Really take some 'me' time and figure out what energizes you. After all, you've spent all that time in corp doing this and that for a bunch of pirates that clearly didn't care about your interests. Isn't it finally time that someone asked 'What about Yarosara?' It sounds like it's long overdue.
Maybe take some time to explore the wild stretches of WH space? Or maybe take a luxury cruise? Maybe something like corporate espionage or loan sharking might be your bag. It sounds like you're a great researcher, so there's that, too. I had a friend that took his ISK and bought a vineyard on some backwater and now he's happier than he's ever been. It's a big cluster out there and you've got to grab that gusto while you can.
Btw, that set up you've got with your acquaintance sounds like it has all the ingredients of a nice con if you decide to go that way. Just a thought. |

Well, I could do that. Not sure if I can live with being called "Miss Kim's sock puppet" though. I sure as heck didn't like being called that back when I worked for the State Peacekeepers (even if it was another me). |

I dunno... I managed to maintain a good relationship with her back when I was a "stupid tribal". In fact, my "stupid tribal" self is currently running a corporation!

Hmm, that's true. With regards to Phorde, I'd have to reccomend them as well but for obvious reasons (that thread a while ago) I believe test has a good group for helping you get started, that or you could always do karmafleet though I'm not reccomending it. Not reccomending them for....... Reasons that I don't think I have to explain. |

Well if everyone is going to throw out the recruitment pitch I'll at least make sure I put in a semi serious attempt.
White Stag's not-amazing-but-not-terrible-at-spaceships corporation 'All-Out' is always recruiting if you've ever had an interest in Anoikis. If not well, you can join one of these terrible and boring groups of dull people who don't have any fun at all. |

Unless by true faith you mean the unmitigated power of science, I'm not seeing that happen.
I mean, heck, I managed to work for Miss Funk for almost three months without degenerating into a blood raving cultist, so I think I'm pretty well-grounded against religion.

Well.. if you didn't taint yourself by actually engaging in depraved and dissolute acts with Funk and the rest of her... 'corporation' after time passes and people see you have either repented or are not like them, then opportunities may open, I'd imagine.
