I don't know how likely it is. I am dubious about the idea, I just imagine all those folks watching the show, coming to try EVE, then leaving in disgust because the game is nothing like the show they watched.

They would need to keep it realistic...you know like:
Hero un-docks...hero decideds to do some mining...hero spends 45 minutes filling his hold with ore because he doesn't really understand what else there is to do (CUE ELEVATOR MUSIC)...hero gets wasted by care bear hunter.
NEXT EPISODE! ...A new hero stupidly jumps into a wormhole because it looks interesting. |

BUT...EVE could be different!! think of the influx of new eager pilots!! |

Don't hold your breath.

I very much doubt this will ever see the light of day. Reason, this would cost money, not make it, which in return means less money for Hilmar's new jesus feature, VR. |

They use time and resources for this kind of things instead of improving and updating the game.
Now I understand events, dailies and so on...no time and effords on them...too busy to prepare television series...

That is one of my personal favourites as well - and one of the ones that inspired me to start using mining ships and other underpowered vessels back in the days when they weren't buffed to the same combat capabilities as Heavy Assault Cruisers and it was actually a challenge. |

Wow, that sounds super action-packed, where there's no areas or vehicles in which you can sit still for long, relatively safe from others. What game is this you refer to?

I think this sounds amazing and would be a HUGE draw to the game. TV shows like this while entertaining are nothing more than product commercials and it would be a huge boon for Eve online.

You do realise that production of this series is being handled by Scott Free Studios, not CCP, right? CCP are basically consultants and source material on this, nothing more. No time or effort is being taken away from game development by this series.

You guys are not seeing the creative potential here. It doesn't even have to be called EVE the tv show. It could be called Eden, have an amazing director/writer behind it and even get at least a miniseries if not a first season. I mean if someone has a script I think it could happen, just get a studio hyped about your idea and sell them 10 shows or something to see if it can float as a show.
With all the shows that are out there this could happen. |

That would i think be a pretty good way to do it, the only problem i could forsee would be that EVE doesnt really have a universally recognised character like Masterchief to play the 'and heres the guy you all already know and love to kick some ass' part.

Not having a definitive main character also has some benefits. Think about it, most series are locked into a semi-predictable format because you KNOW the main will survive. Without a defined main you can kill off characters with impunity. All that really matters is keeping the story interesting and contiguous.

The article says that Game of Thrones is their model. That series features interesting characters that come and go, usually quite violently. I imagine story arcs of a few episodes each. Big plans laid out, steps taken, and then horrible failures. Epic space battles. Cut to the FC still dripping with pod goo, punching out the titan pilot fresh out of the medical clone bay, for jumping instead of bridging. |

It would be interesting if they involved some of the actual player community to assist in the creation of it, just like the game.
There are a lot of players that have actually earned a spotlight or two from a series like this.
As another point, you'd have to really dive into the psyche of the actual players to understand any real characters based off of them. They'd also be smart to build 3 parallel stories lines into the series, or as 3 different series. Each representing the different eras of EVE. Starting era, middle era, and modern era. If you actually 'shot' the series or arcs with different effects and 'feel' you'd probably have the makings of a serious winner on your hands from both the player and non-player perspective.
This is entirely possible as a project, but it needs good writing and acting (either live or voice) to pull it off. Everything else is pretty much already there to make it interesting.
