So i live in a c2, i inherited a astrahus ftom the previous owner
Now that i own it a couple questions, i use the hole mainly for pi, pvp when i can, the occasional site and whatnot.
I had a large tower up as my base of operations, where i store pi stuff extra ships etc...
So would i be smart keeping that pos as my base since all ships and ppl in citadel die if blown up, also if i decide to get rid of it how practical is it to tear down?
Thanks

Did he just give you access to the citadel or did you take over the owner corp?

If anything, a citadel is `safer` because you have more reinforcement timers, so more time to evac if you decide not to want to fight. |

Guess the main difference is I have stuff on the POS that will make it hell to take it, not that it is impossible of course but it would take a significant investment in time
from what I understand citadels die if someone sneezes on it.... or at least its very easy to die, assuming you show up during vulnerable times, 1 or 2 ships can kill a citadel, it would take a fleet to down the POS in a reasonable amount of time.
but I suppose with the reinforcement timers I could evac stuff easy enough, I dont have a lot of stuff so thats not a big deal really. my POS stuff was really bulk of what we had to move into the wh |

I have three citadels in wormhole space. I can assure you that they are not something that will die if sneezed on. Yes they are not as beefy as a large deathstar POS but mine packs a punch anyway. I've defended it from cruiser gang and a small BS gang without issue.
You need to make sure you fit it correctly otherwise it will be a pushover. I'd definitely be keeping my assets in the citadel, it is by far alot more secure. With poses everyone can see how much assets you have because they are on display, not the case with citadels. Most people who attack an online citadel do it because they see a free kill and hope that it's unarmed. Don't make it easy for them.
I have a citadel in a c4 and two Citadels in a c2. If you have any questions let me know. |

Ok prolly not the right place to ask but here goes. I read a blog that says what ever you can anchor in a hi sec npc is what can dock in a med citadel. I get this for hi sec but what about for low null and whs ?
Can you dock carriers and dreads in a med citadel in a wh or low sec like in low sec npc stations ?
Thanks Xert |

keep your stuff in the citadel, keep a tower with fit inside the citadel.
offline the tower you are using and leave it in space with full fit(take down the stuff that can blown up obviously)
you now pay no fuel cost, have 1 citadel and 1-2 poses that people attacking you will need to deal with
also all pos mods that require cpu to run go offline when its reinforced, that means all your cargo stuff will get locked down if someone reinforced pos, you can avoid this by using containers in the forcefield but why would you go through that when you have a citadel |

Unless you need some of the functions that the POS provides, it's much easier not having to deal with fuel hauls. Leave the POS in place offline with defenses in place and stront as a fall back position.

I've read that Citadels have a 24hr anchor phase... is this the time that most of the citadels have been getting popped in WHs? I am contemplating using a c3/ns as a staging point into null for ratbear hunting, but the 24 hour anchor phase has left me very worried to plop one down. |

Yes, the Citadel is invulnerable during the 24 hour anchoring period, however they are getting popped en-mass in the first 15min of being active due to them being vulnerable. |

Ah ok. So people just see an anchoring timer in overview, then park there until it is over?
How quickly can the large citadel be popped while in the vulnerable 15 minute state? |

Do anchoring citadels show up on the overview, or do they need to be scanned down? |

Would need quite a bit to take it down, its like 20mil hitpoints. |

They showup on the screen in space, not the overview, they only show up there when you are allowed access to it/public. |

Does the 15mins vulnerability timer stop during downtime?
There's probably an extended downtime coming on the 13th September with the latest upgrade. If i deployed the citadel as close as i can to the downtime start on the 12th, it should go into the 15 min vulnerability window a minute or so before the DT the day after when the upgrade is being deployed.
When the servers come back up would that window be closed?

From experience killing anchoring citadels, if the repair timer is still running when the server goes down the timer will have reset fully and start counting down once the server is back up.

I wouldn't bother trying to do that, I'd say set up a small POS to anchor stuff out of temporarily while the citadel comes online, and be online, with your whole group when the citadel comes online. Realistically, that's the best way of doing it, shy of being on 24/7 rolling every connection that appears asap.
My name is Jonn Duune, and I wholeheartedly support the message posted above.
