I've been trying for two weeks to get a stupid drop from a stupid structure to finish a mission. I've cleared the relevant rooms several times a day and the structure is never there. I recently read that COSMOS structures only generate twice a day at predictable times: once after reboot and 1 hour after that. So, I entered the room about five minutes after reboot and found six ships already clearing the room and camping the box. An hour later, the same thing. Is this really what the game designers intended? Instead of a nice PvE experience for a relatively new player (few months experience flying a 20M ISK cruiser) instead it becomes an extortion opportunity for experienced players with nothing better to do between 1105 and 1205 GMT than loot the box then throw up a contract that typically runs about 2-3 times the cost of the ship needed to clear the room.
This is a really easy fix. Just make the structure regeneration times unpredictable. |

You do understand that the point behind pretty much all PvE in the game is to be a point of conflict between players... right? This goes doubly so for static anomalies.
That is why missions are not "instanced" in the traditional sense. If someone wants to find you and have some "fun" with you... they can probe down your mission, steal the loot, salvage the wrecks, and... yes... even hold the mission objective hostage.
Your job is to adapt and find ways around the problems you face (just as the rest us have done).
How did you Veterans start?

While I agree with what ShahFluffers said, I think this goes only for the normal missions that spawn in random locations at random times, ie. when you take a mission.
It is a bit different with these static locations. however. Not even being there first would solve that issue because it comes down who can click on Loot All quicker, which is a pretty random chance game with so many people involved. Wardeccing these people in order to remove them would not work either because they are most likely in NPC corps and the dec costs more than the mission rewards are worth. As far as I remember, similar things happened with the static low tier DED plexes in High sec and they were turned into normal signatures after the camping got out of hand. Thus, I do not think that spawn time randomization for these COSMOS sites would be a bad thing. Then again, however, COSMOS PVE needs a some attention in general to make it more worthwhile.

I invested a good amount of time into COSMOS missions and i can tell you this.
COSMOS missions are a dead end street. When they came out there was a whole theory on how are they dona work and what will be the point of them.... and then somebody got fired/left and nothing has been done about them for about 7 years.
Withe sleepers you can actual read that whole part how T2 and some stuff something is better then ancient technology (Storyline mods).
Any link you find between COSMOS and anything "newer then 2008" if by pure chance, convenience.
I actual wanted at one point loooooooong time ago to do all cosmos missions for fun. I like content and i like reading stories... Some are hard to do solo unless you have a t2 BC... and then you come to weird abrupt ends....
I will edit this later: Since wiki is down and im currently not at home i cant link you the exact name of one such item you receive as reward where it tells you that some guy will contact you in the future.
My ego is the the size of my carriers jump range.

I'm talking about complexes in high-sec. I have no problem with what happens in low-sec. |

So why do you care if someone is camping the loot? |
