Approved for Public Release
At approximately 0230 on 30.07YC118 an ARC fleet under my command entered the Conflux Hive. The fleet of around twenty cruisers entered the Hive proper, engaged and destroyed the Hikanta, and accessed the vault. During the operation, the fleet engaged six GÇÿSilverfishGÇÖ Drifter Battleships, including two piloted by Hikanta Tyrannos clones. After entering the Nexus, the fleet exited the wormhole having sustained no losses of ships or lives.
This is the first time that an ARC fleet has sustained no casualties since we first started to attack the Drifters in their Hives. Furthermore, this is not a fluke of luck, but as the deliberate result of ARCGÇÖs evolving doctrine and tactical approach to combating the Drifters. The current doctrine, known as Heavy Weasels, continues ARCGÇÖs tradition of keeping a low barrier of entry for pilots wishing to come on open operations, both on skill points and initial investment in ships.
In the Heavy Wesel doctrine, a fleet of Caracals and Scythes support a core of of Basilisks flown by ARC veterans; the rest of the fleet positions are open to all pilots, including first time Hive Op pilots. Within the next few days, ARC Coordination will release fittings for a Moa and a Belicose to ARC pilots who are not able to fly the Caracal.
Due to the local space conditions caused by the Conflux pulsar, the Conflux Hive represents the most dangerous Hive for the Heavy Weasel doctrine. Given the successful battlefield performance of the Heavy Weasel doctrine in Conflux, we expect that it should perform to standard--meaning no losses--in all other Drifter Hives.
We honor and remember the sacrifice of all the men and women who died to get us to this point.
Alizabeth, ARC Fleet Commander

It wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of those that have been putting so much effort into the fight. Though we've been working at a disadvantage fighting a powerful enemy on their home turf, the progress made is a testament to human ingenuity and tenacity.
Thank you, Lady Lagann, Ms. Priano, and everyone else involved in the coordination and management. I'm honored to fly with all of you. |

Though I have only been on a minimal number of these missions, it was always a 'given' that there would be losses. Sister Alizabeth excels at keeping other pilots alive so it should not surprise me that this 'given' appears to be false, thanks be to God.
I would like to extend my congratulations and thanks to ARC and their affiliates for their continued work in removing the Drifter menace. I hope to join you on a mission as soon as I am able and appreciate the understanding that I will fly outside of the given doctrine.

While pacifistic notions are all well and good, at this point it's fair to say few feel any such obligation toward the Tyrannos, who have not so much as issued demands, and who have visited fire and death on the Empire, and anyone who ventures near abandoned Jove structures even in sovereign space.

The doomsday fires. We just happen to ensure it misses. Our current understanding is that it tracks comparably or slightly worse than a Drifter's regular armament. The question was how we'd ensure a fleet can withstand regular weapons fire so that we could control the flow of the engagement, especially in a worst-case scenario with multiple (three or more) Drifters on field.

Well, this news is not the End of the Drifter Menace. It's not the beginning of the End of the Drifter Menace either.
But perhaps, this is the End of the Beginning of the Drifter Menace. Here is the point, at which the tides turn, and now the Drifters will be pushed back into the holes that they crawled from.
And good riddance to them !

At the moment there is an ARC COORD 'Eyes Only" document detailing the Heavy Weasel Doctrine. I will see what I can do to get a redacted and declassified version out to the public sometime in the next few weeks.

Well done Evocatus! The Society is pleased to continue to participate in and to support the ARC Drifter Operations.
It took a lot of hard work and thought by a lot of people to get to this point. It is good to reduce the risk to our crews and to finally be able to take the fight, effectively, to the Drifters. |

On the first, though, ARC fleets remain open to the public for participation, and all pilots get equal share of the proceeds. If you're even curious about the Hives, I'd strongly recommend tagging along for at least one operation.

I advise that any capsuleer who flies in harms way for a living get some experience of this doctrine. It requires a certain fit and it's not very tolerant of mistakes, but it seems very doable in my opinion.
I will be tagging along with ARC fleets in the future - the work is profitable and given the possibility of the Drifters posing a material threat to Caldari interests and Capsuleer interests in the future, learning to fight them strikes me as merely due dilligence.
I can confirm that there was no attempt at contact from the Drifter fleets that I was present and engaged. They aren't interested in talking, people, let's try communication the Civire way!
"Caldari Prime burns, those left behind are choking on the dust and ash that fills the air, and you demand our surrender? Is this a joke? You have only hardened our resolve. Every drop of blood you have taken from us will be repaid -- with interest."

I don't know why people still seem to think they can be communicated with. That would imply a bidirectional exchange of words, thoughts and ideas. They can't talk. They don't even have vocal cords to do so with.
At this point they're going to have to be the ones to make any sort of "diplomatic" overture towards us. Anyone with an ounce of sense or self-preservation isn't going to waste time trying it in the other direction: their only method of "communication" has been weapons fire from the very first day they appeared in New Eden. This notion that diplomacy is an option is, at best, hopelessly misguided and unrealistic to the point anyone suggesting it ought to be slapped in the back of the head with a brick.
