Greetings:
I currently have found myself living in two separate wormholes, a C4 and a C2 Red Giant with a high-sec static and a C4 static. Every now and then things get silly and the C4 is the static to the C2.
I've been playing EVE since 2006, I've dipped my toes in just about every piece of EVE, and really enjoy trying out the new stuff. As an older player I have a decent pile of space bucks, but unfortunately the vast majority of my EVE friends have drifted away from the game, or drifted to parts of the game I rather not get into these days.
I have a history of being interested in structures in EVE, so while I had been sitting mostly idle and bored in these two wormholes, I said what the heck and tossed a few Citadels up. I had played with them on the test server, and thought they were kind of neat. After all of that, I found myself staring at some citadels on the live server, but not really making use of them. Feels kind of like a waste.
So, if you've read this far you're really tolerant of windbags. I applaud your dedication. In the past few weeks I've been trying to think of something to do in EVE, but didn't want to let go of the wormholes. They're home to me, so its tough to ditch them.
I thought I'd put out feelers as a result to see if there were any corporations who were new to wormholes who might be interested in making use of this infrastructure as a means to try out living in wormholes. There are obvious risks that if you're not clear how Citadels work might surprise you. In wormholes, if your citadel is destroyed, all items inside (including yours, in your personal hangar) may drop in a loot can, rather than the k-space mechanics of delivering it to some safety bin in space or whatever.
In offering this, I want to be pretty clear that I am not offering to babysit anyone. I am open to interact with anyone interested in this, but I am not offering any kind of in-game link other than blue standings (no alliance mechanics or whatever). I am not guaranteeing safety of any assets stored in the wormhole, hell I'm not guaranteeing anything really at all.
Yes, the eagle-eyed scam-police of you will surely raise an eyebrow and cry fowl, that I'm luring easy prey to their doom with some back-up fleet waiting to cause hell on them, or to let them get cozy in a citadel and stock it full of their assets, then remove docking rights and blow it up, whatever ideas you can come up with I'm sure they're clever and super evil genius, but quite frankly that's too much work for my taste. However it is another risk worth considering. I have no intentions of anything nefarious however.
So the other (rightly so) paranoid folks out there will say that its a means for me to make ISK, or a means to recruit defense fleets for the citadels. Decent reasons to do this sure, but as I said I've been playing EVE a long time, have a nice chunk of space monies, am not really concerned with the loss of a few billion in Citadels, and am more or less sensible about where my valuables are stored. (hint: not in citadels).
The point here is that I see this infrastructure, I see myself not using it (mostly due to a random schedule with my employment), and I would be curious to see what the environment looked like with people buzzing about killing other people and harvesting space bitcoins from sleepers and asteroids and what-not.
Q/A:
Q: Are there any rules? A: I dunno probably, I'm kind of exploring this and would like to chat with you if you are interested, get to know you, and see if it would work. I'm potentially giving up the wormhole to someone (or multiple groups) who want to get involved, so I'd rather try to avoid the obvious.
Q: Wait, I figured you out, you're going to put a ton of taxes on POCOs and reprocessing modules and blah blah! A: Basically as it stands right now, there's reprocessing in the Citadel, and there are POCOs. Currently they are set to tax a minimal amount to neutrals, but nothing to blues. I would expect mutual blue standings with you, and therefore you would not be taxed for existing services.
HOWEVER, I have no idea what the future holds for structures in EVE, but I intend to tinker with them as they come out. Depending on the mechanics and cost of said structures, I might impose taxes on the NEW services to recoup some cost. I will however make an honest effort to discuss with any inhabitants prior to launching said structures.
Q: Do I get to pick which wormhole? A: No, and I'm glad you asked that question! This offer is intended to be for the C2 described above. While the C4 is readily available, the idea here is to give some organizations an easy launch pad into wormholes, and I feel the C4 is a good candidate for a stepping stone out of the C2, but I think the C2 would be more appropriate for someone new to w-space.
Q: How "in mah bizniss" are you going to be? A: I have a pretty unpredictable real life job, so my EVE time is hard to predict/schedule. I login when I can, for as long as I can, but its random. I have no intention to be in your business at all unless you want me to be. I'm happy to answer questions and offer advice if asked, but I have no intention of trying to drive your corporation's direction. If you want to invite me to participate in your activities, I probably will join as time permits. I don't expect/require an invitation however, and you are free to ignore me.
Q: What if I want to just come and get in the hole, and then mow down your citadels and take all the things? A: That is indeed some good content you could generate for your organization, and I would then be in posession of 1 less wormhole and a few billion ISK, and that will be that. This is EVE, and that is a path that this could go.
This windbag has run out of characters. Inquire within, please note due to my work schedule I may not respond for a day or two. |
