The title is really rather self-explanatory. A fairly new pod pilot, I am about to reach the point where I have both the skills and the monetary stability to fly a Minmatar battleship. After careful examination of the available ships I have decided on piloting a Tempest. I spend a great deal of my time pirating by myself, and have come unto you seeking guidance on how to fit this ship, lest I waste ISK and days of skill training time only to get ambushed and destroyed fifteen minutes into piloting it due to a rather sub-par setup.

here is one of the best setups for gate pvp:
Highs: 6 800's, 2 heavy nosfs
Mids: 100mn mwd, Target painter, Sensor booster, Web, Warp Disrupt
Lows: 2 damage mods, 1600 rolled tungest, 2 hardeners, Large repper.
You are a close range ship that can hit from 16 km out rmemeebr the target painter is very important to deal with smaller ships. This setup could use a few tweaks but is still VERY effective. Enjoy.

Would you not be better off with a 2nd web instead of the painter ? or a sensor damp or injector or sensor booster or anything but a painter ?

HI:largest autos u can fit after fitting the rest + 2*heavy nos MED:100MWD/2*web/20km scram/heavy injector LOW:2*1600mm RT plate/LAR/DCU II/ a combination of eanm II or gyro II
This is best used with trimark armour rigs (t2 if you can) and gives you about 35k armor.

Edited by: Harlequin D''Earth on 15/03/2007 14:02:26 Although some people like the 3 active hardners (the initial high em gives good final res) I prefer the dcu option - having that structure buffer serves well. The heavy plate and trimark is also a good option, normally if in gang (particulary with remote reps/bots) - but for solo the lack of agility can hurt while trying to tackle. A normal dual rep/eanm setup may suit you better:
6x Biggest AC you can fit 2x Heavy nos 100mn MWD Heavy injector Scram 2x Web (or 1 web and 1 TD) 2x LAR 2x EANM DCU Gyro
using t2/named as skills allow. If you really have the cash for the expensive pg rig then something like the following fits:
6x650mm Repeating Artillery II 2xDiminishing Power System Drain I 100MN MicroWarpdrive II Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I Faint Warp Prohibitor I Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I 2xLarge Armor Repairer II Damage Control II 2xEnergized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Rigs : Ancillary Current Router I \ Nanobot Accelerator I \ Nanobot Accelerator I \

Question: Why do you not prefer the far better resis of 3x active hardner (kin, therm, explo) instead of 2xEANM II and a DCU II? I do see the advantages of the 60% resis on the hull from DCU but does that really justify the loss in armor resis? |

i think 2x EANM II + DCU II actually gives you a better avg
80% EM
55% ish exp
62% ish kin/therm?
