Hello
Since recently i want to get into capitals, I would like to fly dread's, carriers and FA's.
I am not sure wether it's better to train for capitals on my main or on an alt though. I checked and because i only started playing last year i don't have that many SP, so if i make an alt, the training time will roughly be the same.
If i train for them on an alt i would probably keep my main account to sub-capitals and cyno's.
Now my main problem is paying for the accounts wich is also why i am still thinking about it. I am just a student so it's not that easy to keep 2 eve accounts payed every month.
Does anyone on here have any suggestions? |

Based on what your limits are.
Keep the one account. Make an EVEMON plan that includes capital skills, but IMPROVES your subcap capabilities. Look for skills that overlap the two goals, but train for your subcap effectiveness first and foremost. This way you can get better at what you do on a daily basis, and also have a start on the next level of the game.
Keep in mind, that Capitals aren't used every day. Also keep in mind, every Cap fleet needs a support fleet. A Bhaalgorn or Falcon or Phobos on the field is just as important to that fleet as another dread would be. Let the guys who can afford the bigger losses, take the bigger risks. Losing ships you can't afford, on accounts you can't afford, is not fun.
When you can afford a second account, you'll know, and you won't need to ask anyone about it. Second accounts are great, but it is just a game. |

Finish your sub cap skills. These sub cap supports and related skills will be things you can use regularly in most ships you fly. When you've run out of all other real options, when things like industry or invention skills are all that's left... consider capitals and their at minimum 2-3yr training regimen.
Try to avoid training for a floating coffin too. You'll probably need a 2nd account for certain and a new sub cap char at that point. |

Going with what everyone else here said you should work on the supporting skills for both first, so say you want a dreadnought first you would want all your gunnery skills sitting pretty and the ability to inject the capital guns of your choice when you can afford the books. Same deal with carriers really you want to maximize drone skills before you drop 200-300m on the skill books for light, support, and eventually heavy fighters.
Thankfully with the FAX you just need decent basic drone skills followed by Tactical Logistics Configuration and the basic Logi skills, if you wanted to train this one first too you could also take a little while to train Cruiser 5 and fly a logi cruiser for practice and maybe in incursions to help cut the costs of paying for accounts ( Maybe pay 1 plex 1).
Most important though is just doing them in an order that works for you based on your play style Now and in-between now and then.
Oh yeah and jump skills are still a good one even Post jump fatigue, don't forget those

I would train it on a second account that is focused on capital skills, but could do useful things for your current character in the meanwhile - like scouting, isk earning, etc.
It would be more useful to have separate sub-cap and capital characters longer term. And when you are cap capable, your first toon could be the cyno.
If money is an issue you can pause your capital char until you get a bit of money. Some people purchase a cap character on the bazaar.

This. Train for capitals on your alt and when you can afford it move them to a second account so you can dual box. Dread/Fax alts are better as still it allows an FC to field maximum subcap numbers while keeping caps in reserve to be used if and when needed. |
