Background: One issue I see is that the T2 battlecruiser training is way too long. Even though battlecruisers have been recently rebalanced (and I really like the rebalance changes), it would be nice to bring command ships more into the mainstream. In addition, the training time should logically fall in between T2 cruisers and T2 battleships. Reducing the training time (because they currently take like.....as long as a carrier to properly get into.....) by removing the leadership skills requirements would allow them to become much more mainstream and viable for doctrines, and also bring their training time into around the time-frame that it should fall into (it should not take as long to train a command ship as it does a carrier.....).
Also - note, importantly, that other boost ships don't require those leadership skills trained. E.g. if you want to fly a boost proteus, you don't need all of the leadership skills that you require to run a boost command ship. The same is true of carriers and battlecruisers. Even carriers do not have such large requirements for running links.
Proposal: Make command ships follow the same rule as HACs: require the base ship 5, plus some core skills. For example:
- Racial battlecruiser 5 - Warfare Links Specialist 4 - Weapon Upgrades 5 - Spaceship Command 5 - Capacitor Management 4 - Energy Grid Upgrades 5
This would make the training time longer than a HAC, includes warfare links specialist 4 (same requirement that is used for command dessies), but brings the training time into a more reasonable time frame that falls in-between T2 cruisers and T2 battleships (as it should). |

the training time is right between cruiser and BB its not that long and balanced just fine
the skills just use charisma an attribute most don't remap for
these are leader ship ships they should take leadership skills
t3s and carriers are not primarily leadership ships

And yet everyone and their dog runs a boosting T3 instead of command ships, because command ships can't be nullified. |

This is all changing in November. Read the latest Dev blogs. Not that CS time needs changing but it appears CCP are shortening it slightly from what they've said.
And CCp also need to remove attributes already so this 'not a standard remap' stuff goes away. |

But you know that these Command Ships would be completely useless, right? If you do not train your leadership skills, your boosh boost will not reach even a fraction of your fleet and thus you are worthless in that ship. The Leadership skills are very adequate for what the Command Ships are and will be even more important in the very near future.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

They want easy to train CS for fleet doctrines like the Abso doctrine I know exists & others like it. And want it all on the one map so they don't have to train at non perfect speeds. While I do believe attributes should be removed and training is just a flat rate at whatever, as long as attributes exist not every ship should be trainable on a perfect map, especially one geared towards leadership. And on a neutral map, CS training time is perfectly reasonable compared to the surrounding classes. |

And yet everyone and their dog runs a boosting T3 instead of command ships, because command ships can't be nullified. You start out by asking for the removal of leadership skills from command ships and then use the fact that they are not nullified as a reason why no one uses them. Not buying into this bait and switch thing of yours.
If they are not used because they are not nullified then address that issue specifically because even IF they remove leadership skills people would still prefer the T3 because nullified. A far better way fo deal with this is to remove the ability to fit links to the T3 making both the skills required AND the command ships something players will have to use if they want links. |
