My argument against the Amarrian religion is that they have granted themselves an exclusive, "divinely ordained" mandate to spread said religion and culture via force with the so-called True Amarr set at the pinnacle of authority. Also, the "reclaiming" is binary; the rest of humanity either accepts the Amarrian deity or is murdered. There is no third option of peaceful coexistence.
It makes me laugh when the Federation is so often accused of cultural imperialism while the cluster's original and most violent practitioners of same are rarely called out for it. There's an enormous difference between the Federation peacefully exporting its ideals via free trade, the media, etc versus the Amarrian way utilizing aggressive warfare and forced assimilation. |

There's an enormous difference between the Federation peacefully exporting its ideals via free trade, the media, etc versus the Amarrian way utilizing aggressive warfare and forced assimilation. It is really fascinating how myoptic and hypocritic some gallentes are, while they dare to blame others in cultural imperialism but completely fail to see their own cultural imperialism.
Even more ridiculously stupid was attempt at blaming Amarr in using agressive warfare from the side of a gallentean. Yes, we know that Amarr used to be warring nation in the past, more than five hundred years ago, yet currently they are the peaceful and devoted to God nation.
And on other hand, it is gallenteans who use aggression to bring their culture upon others in modern time.
Gallentean claim that the humanity either accepts the Amarrian deity or is murdered is especially ignorant and ridiculous. Author of the words obviously haven't read 'Pax Amarria' and is driven only by his hatred to people who think differently than him. And even if he couldn't read even on his own language (I believe the Pax Amarria is the most translated book in the cluster), I don't understand how he fails to see that we, Caldari State, stay loyal and friendly to the Empire for quite a long term, and nobody of them ever tried to "murder" us because we don't follow their religion.
And again, Gallenteans are trying to murder us every day because we don't share their beliefs into chaos and democracy.
I think every reader, who was following politics (and especially the start of current war), shall remember the situation on Caldari Prime that led to the escalation of the conflict. Remember these gallente graffiti and losungs to "Exterminate Caldari"?
Gallente did it. Not Amarr.
Honored are the dead, for their legacy guides us.

Well-- you're not completely wrong, but....
It does seem to be true that orthodox Amarr regard True Amarr as the Chosen of God, fated to rule, and traditionally that rule was expanded by conquest. That view of the Amarr and their place in things was kind of badly dented by Vak'Atioth, and hasn't recovered since. In the modern age ...
The Pax Amarria (which people frequently mistake for a sort of abbreviated copy of the scriptures) argues for peaceful Reclaiming by persuasion. Foreigners like myself can visit or even live peacefully within the Empire (though citizenship requires conversion). We see an empress from a family famously descended from the Udorians-- former slaves, in other words-- about to ascend the throne. The only Great House to still favor resumed Reclaiming by the sword is House Sarum.
The previous empress declared that the time of chains is coming to an end.
It's really neat to watch it all unfolding. I hope it continues. |

Culturally Udorians and True Amarr are now indistinguishable, and the particular genetic makeup of a clearly True Amarr Empress is no matter of concern.
Perpetuating the rather ridiculous insinuation that the Tash-Murkons are more Udorian than True Amarr is not helpful.

My lord? While I certainly concede that the Udorians and True Amarr are so intermingled as to be difficult to distinguish, and while it does seem like the sort of accusation that more orthodox Amarr might mutter behind their sleeves and fans, I'm not sure it's an "insinuation" that is taken as a negative everywhere.
At the least, it's something that's given a lot of hope to those of more ... ah, recently-Reclaimed bloodlines?
In other words, depending on who you're talking to, it's not a slur but a mark of hope: "We, too, might one day rule this Empire." |

I'm late to this thread, but...
Where has it ever been claimed that god is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent? I see this argument come up a lot, but I don't know where the basis for it comes from. These are labels attached by idle philosophers looking for a reason to hear themselves talk. God is God. We do not define God, we discover Him. These are all words that are not even adequately defined themselves. How does one expect to define God with these words if the words themselves are still open to interpretation?
Omniscience? God in Scripture visited and then saw. When he chose to cast his sight on us, he saw the cascade of evil, and judged that which he saw. He has given us the Destiny of Faith, but that Destiny is the command to Reclaim, not the promise of a universe Reclaimed. God has a plan for us. But it's a plan of a world He wishes us to create, not a world that will assuredly pass. We succeed, or we fail. He does not promise platitudes, he promises rewards and threatens punishments. He shows us a future and says, "This is yours if you can achieve it." God commands.
And omnibenevolence? How can this even be discussed? That word in this setting is almost always defined under northern cultural values. Unlimited comfort, mercy, freedom from pain and suffering, pacifism. Pampering, coddling; this is "good" to northern nations. But in Amarr? There is no good found in a life without struggle. Read the Book of Missions. God can and will see evil done to us, and we will suffer, and this is good because we learn. Not even the Chosen are given the promise of a comfortable and safe life. For there to be good, there must be evil. For there to be benevolence, there must be malevolence. For there to be enlightenment, there must be ignorance. |

Or when CONCORD says its time! But hey, we're the bad guys, not CONCORD, right? At any rate, this is all tangential to the subject.

There is a species of insect on Athra that live and die in minutes. Their entire existence, their whole understanding of the universe, is so fleeting that a gust of wind means a lifetime of turbulence.
There was a time when mothers suffered through terrible agony, for hours on end, to give birth to new life. They didn't know exactly what that life would be for their offspring. They only knew that they had to suffer through this pain to give that opportunity.
If you witnessed only that pain, only that suffering, and never looked for the greater meaning, the future it could offer, you would believe it to be unreasonable, unholy, unjust.
We are all so far removed from the realities of life, that we forget that sometimes our own suffering can give it all meaning.
God has set the Amarr on this path. God has given us a mission to reclaim the universe from the darkness that surrounds us. We don't know exactly what that life will be for future generations. We only know that we have to suffer through this pain to give that opportunity. Perhaps the next generation of insect will see calm.

As you once put it during our discussions on immortality, we are 'Serially Mortal'.
P/s: I will still consider us undead. Putting us down in the ground for good requires some really specific steps, otherwise we will just rise back from the grave again.
