Based on a comment by CCP Manifest on Reddit, an update of the NPE is planned for the Alpha clone release (thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/50hcpc/welcome_to_free_to_play_eve/d7408mv#d7408mv )
As I've been collecting information regarding various missions, I've noticed that several Level 1 Security missions have some very useful information in them. The one that stands out the most is the "Fair Play" mission chain, which has players camping a gate to kill a pirate, stealing ore from a can, and similar actions.
I'd like to suggest that a sixth "Career Agent" be added to teach a player about piracy. This agent would be the "Big Bad" from the Military Career Agent who makes the offer during the chain to show you the darker side of EVE. This new Piracy Career Agent would contact you via mail after completing the five Career Agents, similar to how storyline agents contact you.
This Piracy Career Agent would show you things like gate camping, can stealing, cargo scanning, and suicide ganking, and perhaps scamming (perhaps delivering a Carbon somewhere instead of a Charon and collecting pre-arranged payment).
If occasional notes about some strange drones were included (such as getting reports from the suicide gank mission and intercepted radio chatter during the gate camping), it could also lead a person to the SoE mission, with the pirate saying that he doesn't like the Sisters, but that Sister Alitura has a lot of contacts and that the talk about strange drones has him on edge.
Something like that would lead a player from their first log-in up through the basics into the "light" side of the game, down into the "dark" side, and then to the SoE arc. Right now, there really isn't a lot that mentions the SoE arc except the blurb in the Rookie Help MOTD, and that usually scrolls by super fast.
Anyway, it's just a thought that I've had while documenting missions and seeing some of the things the Level 1 Security missions talk about. I figured I'd post it since CCP Manifest mentioned the update. |
