So, I mentioned in another thread that I still sing this song sometimes, as it does have a catchy tune (and very fun lyrics). I first learned it as a young girl of fourteen at the CNM Academy for Girls. Through the years, I've forgotten some verses, but I hope that some of the other Caldari here can help me out. (Yes, I know a galnet search is faster. It's not as fun. Nor does it have all of the bajillion verses people have created over the years.)
The refrain I remember. How could I not?
Glory, Glory to our Caldari State Glory, Glory to our Caldari State Glory, Glory to our Caldari State And bombard Gallente Prime
And here are the verses I remember.
Remember Tovil-Toba and the patriots that died Honor the Caldari who have served and fought with pride Remember every sacrifice to be repaid ten fold And bombard Gallente Prime.
Our planet has been lost to us, weGÇÖve scattered to the night And if it takes a thousand years, we wonGÇÖt give up the fight One day weGÇÖll return again to our ancestral home And bombard Gallente Prime!

Oh, I remember we were yelling this back in SWA before the war started and even before I became a capsuleer. It was just a cheerful silly and naughty song for us. It was catchy indeed!
Now though I don't consider it much silly anymore. So calling "Bombarding Gallente Prime" is a scream for justice. It is a reminder for our generation, and for gallentes as well, that they have committed an atrocity by bombarding of Caldari Prime and didn't pay for this. Of course now bombarding Gallente Prime would be meaningless, since those, who bombarded Caldari Prime are long dead, and we can't enact justice on them anymore.
Yet such possibility of "historical justice" shall always be brought to any gallente, who would dare to say a word about fairness.
For now though we shall concentrate on other war crimes that Gallente has committed in our lifetime, for what they did in these eight years and magnitude of their numerous crimes clearly overshadows all their atrocities of the past.
Honored are the dead, for their legacy guides us.
In memory of Tibus Heth, Caldari State Executor YC110-115, Hero and Patriot.

We'll have no peace while it's profitable for all parties, from individual miners to the largest State and Alliance actors, to continue the war. Let's not go deluding ourselves. |

An offering from my mis-spent youth. It may have inspired some of my activities in Anoikis (where I acquired my first Prowler!)
The Caldari have their money and their ships all look so sharp. They fire missile swarms at the pirate hordes and blow Guristas' hulls apart
Gallente ships are sexy yeah I love those curves they trace and Amarr cruisers with their golden plates just look so good when they're in space..
I wish they all could be in Matari wish they all could be in Matari I wish they all could be in Matari hands...
The Vheriokhor find the best toys and the Thukkers move 'em round Slap on some artycannons for that Brutor boom and let the Sebbies go to town
I've flown in all the Empires and I've stole all kinds of ships but it was all such a bore til I got back to Pator for those drag races down the strip
I wish they all could be in Matari wish they all could be in Matari I wish they all could be in Matari hands. |

I do have to ask, by the way, since it's come up a couple of times now: what makes this inappropriate in its own thread? What is it that make it not appropriate for people to share the songs and stories of their youth, that we might better understand one another? I mean, sure, we all know the Caldari and Gallente have been at odds since they met, but I had no idea the matter was something that had filtered down to the level of children singing battle songs in their schools at fourteen. The idea of it actually surprised me, though after I was struck by how much I felt like it really shouldn't have.
So:on a forum where literally everything from favorite recipes to the atrocities of the Butcher have been discussed, why is it inappropriate for people to talk about this? |
