Ok, stupid question that has been stumping me.
I have a planet where I extracting P0 materials and converting them to P1, so all I have is a launchpad, extractor, and a bunch of factories.
Under 'current cycle output' on the extrator it lists 5879 units Under 'routes' on the same extractor it list 34456, which is all going to a luanchpad.
Under the launchpad's it has 34456 under incoming. I then have a bunch of routes going out to factories at 3000 each. I set up factories based off that 34456 number, however when the extractor cycle completes only 2 factories get filled, so the 5879 seems to be how many are actually being produced.
So can anyone explain how these numbers relate? On the routing screen at least this is rather confusing since I would assume 'input' and 'output' have to balance.. but it seems like the 'input' is not the actual amount being inputted per hour.
Thanks for any advice. |

Keep in mind that factories require twice as much to fill the first time, so if they don't get enough to fill, they never will stay full.
Example: 1. 3000 units input 2. Cycle starts, factory is empty again. 3. 3000 units needed to fill while factory is processing. Total: 6000 units |

True, and that tripped me up at one point too, but the sample I an pulling from is 3 days into a 7 day extraction. |

Pay attention to the output/hour of your extractor, that will tell you whats being produced.
Some numbers like 'products' in Extractors don't seem to mean anything. Or at least I never worked out what they do mean.

Ok, so now I know which number to pay attention to. Though it is kinda odd that they take the wrong number and display that in the place where it is easy to do the balancing.
I wonder if it is a bug.... |

This is the issue. You are pretty far down the extraction curve by the 3rd day of a 7 day cycle.
The quantity used in the routing is some weird average balanced over the entire cycle, where the amount being produced and moved in any given cycle could be more or less.
If I recall, on 7 day cycle you have 1 hour extractor cycles?
So every extractor total cycle starts off strong and declines fairly rapidly. So I would imagine in the fist few cycles you were pulling a lot more product, but now depending on the depletion you have started to draw a "base" level.
There are too many factors to be able ot tell you exactly what is going on, but the main thing is that the number used for the routing links is not "real time" based like the extraction, but rather some average over the duration of the total extraction cycle.
Hope that helps.

Ah! Actually yes, that does help. I did not realize that they fell off that quickly during a long cycle.
This might be further encouragement to move to a faster cycle time.. I will have to see if I can manage to log in every day. |
