Hello people,
I am in need of your assistance.
I am fortunate enough to have bought a new PC, however my friend that has got me into this game has unfortunately got a machine that can just about run Windows Paint, yet he still perseveres with low FPS with Eve.
Now my PC should be more than powerful enough to run two instances of the game, however the issue I'm trying to solve, and an hour of googling didn't really help, is that I want to run two instances of the game, on two monitors and assign another set of keyboard/mouse to that application, and block my keyboard and mouse from that application.
Now everything I've googled is old, outdated, and generally not the same situation I'm in right now. It's quite puzzling, but I'd be surprised if It wasn't possible.
I'd be grateful for some direction here, it would be just nice to be able to play this game with my buddy without him feeling like poo because he can't afford a new PC, as he's old and has kids that suck his wallet dry.
Kind Regards,
The Touchiest of Uncles. |

i have no idea how to setup as you suggest.
however, have a look at your mate's PC and post the specs. depending on age, it may (or it may not) be possible to considerably bump up it's performance for a relatively minor outlay.
One nice thing about EVE, it runs rather well on older machines.

Will he be physically next to you or in his own house?
If sitting next to you this will be a simple case of creating a virtual machine that only responds to inputs from one set of peripherals
If not physically near you this will require some trickery with streaming your second monitor with some kind of screen sharing software like teamviewer with the above mentioned virtual machine

He is literally sitting next to me buddy.
Could you recommend any guides or programs to use for this?
Kind regards

Go through the programs list and see how much of that software is actually important and actually gets put to good use. Stuff that probably isn't: Keyboard drivers. Someone decided your keyboard needed a "play" button and some broken software to make it work. Demo versions of software. Adobe Flash. It's everyone's favorite security hole these days. Unfortunately, Twitch still depends on it.
Stuff that probably is useful: Those visual C++ runtime libraries.
Getting rid of those means you have more memory to play with, and fewer things which will randomly decide to update and take all your bandwidth or nag you to reboot in the middle of something.

He's relatively tech savy, I would have thought he'd have done this already. Thanks for the suggestion though. |

There's some decent free virtualisation software out there.
One that comes to mind if virtualbox, Java based and easy to use but not as efficient as something like vmware. Microsoft hyper-v might also be available to you depending on what Windows version you run, it's typically included in pro or enterprise versions.
Once you have picked your virtualisation software, it's as easy as googling 'how to create a Windows virtual machine on X' X being the software you're using.
Once the virtual machine is set up installing eve on it should be straightforward and I believe in the settings you can choose the peripherals that apply to it.
Only problem I can foresee is running out of USB slots for peripherals and you might need to purchase a hub or get a keyboard with its own ports.

I know this is possible under linux, no idea about windows. It is called "multiseat" there, maybe you find something for windows if you look that up.
