Tengu HAM, Cap Stable with Active Shield Boosters (800-1000 EHP/sec rep) can have very close to 900 applied dps at 25km range. This is still a viable option for both full mission running and blitz.

Going to disagree with the previous poster to a degree. Tengu can still be used in level 4 missions but they have been outclassed in all possible roles by other ships. For Blitz the Machariel is a significantly better choice. For full clear and loot/salvage style the Marauders are the best options, of these the Golem (missiles or torps) and the Vargur (usually auto canon) are generally preferred. For general mission use the Rattlesnake is hard to beat.
Personal preferences will affect your ship choice as well. Do you like to snipe from long range or get in close and punch them in the face. Do you want to mission for max ISK / LP or simply to experiment with things.

Never said that the Tengu was a BEST option. The OP stated that he had used the Tengu before and I was simply pointing out that the Tengu is still viable for all LvL 4 mission running by simply adjusting the resist/damage application profile for the specific mission.
Donnachadh is absolutely correct in the assessment of better ships for either blitzing, or overall superiority. |

You in fact did not state the Tengu was best.

CCP change the rat AI quite some time ago and there is no such thing as a ship that takes the agro while othes wonder around the pocket and shoot at whatever. With the current AI the rats change targets fairly consistently and they have a decided preference for shooting drones. Using EWAR can help to mitigate this but it will not eliminate it. |

Kronos is very good.
HAM Tengu still works fine, a friend of mine used to run one with about 900 dps but I've never really liked the T3 cruisers myself.
Most of the other ships mentioned are common choices, like the Mach and Rattler, I prefer marauders and typhoons / TFIs but I don't worry too much about having the FOTM, I just use what I like even if it's not the min-maxers preferred option.

I have 34k range with hams, 1020 dps and 1500k dps tank. Actualy for Serpentis it is possible to have even more range. |

To the best of my knowledge I don't think anything has changed since CCP's NPC AI adjustment. Granted NPC's will switch to new target that appears on grid. Not sure but I believe they will first target ships doing Logistics and Ewar. .
Anyway, last I checked this is how NPC's would react towards Drones :
Small Hull Class NPC's target Small Class Drones and larger. Medium Hull Class NPC's target Medium Class Drones and larger. Large Hull Class NPC's target Large Class Drones and larger.

HAM tengu is never a good choice in missions. I never changed my fit and it still works the same apart from the range nerf to HML's, which if you adapted your fit could be overcome.
