They seem to have resolution of 125m but still they dont do satisfying amount of damage to targets of the same resolution IMHO. Are medium drones better for the same job (excluding BS)? What drones do you use on myrm, and what setup for lvl3s?
(I have read setups thread, but no lvl3 if i saw right)

medium drones will do fine in lvl III missions, slap a link augmentor on there and send them on their merry way across space. i tend to have my drones mop everyone up while i leech as many capactors dry to help power my armor tank. you could allways use the rest of your drone bay to bring some heavy drones for the battlecruisers in those mission.

10 med's, 5 lights tailored to the mission. use the drones to mop up the frig's, thats where most of the dps in most lvl3 missions comes from, just shoot the cruisers. turn most lvl3 into a cakewalk that way.

Edited by: Lab Technician071548 on 21/03/2007 22:02:34 Drone navigation link FTW. Still, heavies are a waste for level 3s and will suck against all interceptors and some frigates pretty much no matter what you do.
Edit: You can always run a Domi, another form of overkill for a level iii, but at least then you could keep a full complement of different drones for different situations.

Even on level 4s, I use medium drones most of the time.

I started doing lvl3's in a myrm a couple days ago, doing pretty good so far. high: 250mm railgun * 4. tractor beam, salvager (salvaging itself sucks but it adds about 3 million ISK reward on good missions) mid: 10mn t2 AB. 4 * cap recharger II's. low: dual t2 med armor rep. damage control II, EANM II, 2 specific t2 active hardeners. (You can prolly do fine with t1 mods aswell, i was expecting lvl3's to be difficult but this setup is way overkill)
As for the drones, i carry 5 medium t2 drones, and 3 heavy t1 drones. I usually shoot all the frigates down with the mediums, when only the bigger ships are left, i recall them, launch 3 heavies and 2 mediums and go for the cruisers/battlecruisers/sentry stuff, works pretty good i'd say.

I use a Domi. Start with long range sentries, switch to short range sentries, then deploy some hammerheads or hobgoblins to mop up the remainder. No travel time for sentries, virtually no travel time for the mediums and lights because the remainder is so close. Rinse and repeat in each room then come in with a fast ship to loot and salvage.
It's massive overkill, but swift and easy. L3 Blockade is especially nice, with the help of a few guns (dual 250's on mine), every wave dies before coming into their shooting range.
If you insist on using the myrm, use t2 lights and mediums.

I used hammerhead IIs exclusively for all my missions up through level 3. When I started doing level 4s I discovered that against some battleships (the ones I ran into had 1.25M bounties and looked like ravens) 5 hammerhead IIs were not enough to break their tank and I had to NOS them down (I don't normally fit any guns other than a civilian gatling to grab agro from afar). I currently have rank 4 in drone interfacing.
At that point I started carrying 5 hammerhead IIs and 3 ogre I (I'm still training rank 5 in heavies in order to use Ogre IIs). Now when I do level 4s, I use the hammerheads against all the smaller stuff and then pull back 3 of them and send out the 3 ogres (with the remaining 2 hammerhead IIs) to finish off the bigger stuff. Its working fine for me... it took a bit, still, to kill those same two 1.25M battleships when I got the mission a second time, but this time my drones did it all on their own. :)

How can you use 15 drones (simultaneously) in a non-Carrier?

I'm running all level 4 missions in my Ishtar having my happy band of Ogre II's with me. The thing that has helped me the most on my setup, is fitting a Omnidirectional Tracking Link.
Basicly my Ogres kill everything except for the frigates which come really close to me. For those i normally just pick a target 20km from me, and then when my ogres are 5km away, I send them back on one of the frigs. And they pop everytime. Works for ALL missions. Screw having light and medium drones when you know how to use your heavy drones. Practice though :)

After last patch i equipped 2 omnidirectional tracking links and 2 navigation links and i can see the difference. 5 Ogres clear everything in a very short time. The navigation module for drones didnt work before patch, but now we can see drone speeds in overview and you can clearly see the speed difference. And ogres hit frigs easily with omnidirectional tracking links (increased range+tracking) now. I used to use T2 meds but won't go back to med drones for missions anymore.
