Hi I dont fly carrier/motherships but i¦d like to get an answer on a thought i hade.
Is it posseble for a carrier to assign the fighters to another player in the gang? Does this mean that the other player in the gang can control the fighters?
If Yes on above... Where does the carrier need to be to be able to assign fighters? Would it be posseble to have a carrier on a Safe Spot and assign the fighters to a other ship that is located at a gate? Is there only a few ships that can be assigned? Is there any skill requirement?
If No on above (first)... Never mind :P
Reason for asking. A recon ship is cloaked at a gate. Carrier is cloaked at a safe spot. Carrier assign fighters to the recon ship. Gate activate and a BS comes in. Recon ship decloak and start orbit and order the fighters to attack the BS.

Wow, erm. You might want to read up a little before you ask questions. Yes. yes, and yes. That's how everyone uses them.
Except that you cannot assign fighters while cloaked and you cant cloak while being orbitted by asigned fights (I have no idea what happens if you cloak while fighters are assigned to you but they arent't close enough to decloak you. I expect you lose control though like with normal drones.

Edited by: Chewan Mesa on 20/03/2007 15:55:48 If you are in a carrier/MS, you can assign fighters if...
- the pilot is in gang with you and does have 5 free drone"slots", aka doesnt have any drones out himself. He can only control as many fighters as he would be able to control drones.
- You are not cloaked and not in a POS forcefield
- the pilot is not cloaked
If you cloak you lose control over your fighters, if the pilot with assigned fighers cloaks I believe the fighters will return to you.
As well, I wouldnt recommend sitting in a safespot with your carrier assigning fighters, since youll get probed faster than you can warp between your safes :)

Yes, as if they were normal drones, except they follow you, or targets they engage into warp.

Provided it is in the same system (and after todays patch, not inside a POS shield)

Yep.

Any ship that can lock a target can have fighters assigned.

Is there any skill requirement?
You need the 'Drones' skill, and can be assigned 1 fighter for every level of this skill (max 5) -----

Hey now that there's a topic like this I've always wondered, can you cloak while your fighters are assigned? or do they turn numb

You loose control of your drones if you cloak. they just stop in their tracks and stay there. quite sad.
And looks like with 1.4 Rev, you can no longer assign or deploy fighters while inside a force field
