I'm sorry, but that guy doesn't know WTF he's talking about. He talks about people who want to compete and people who don't.
the question that kept coming to my mind is "if you don't want to compete, that's fine, but why are you wearing a club uniform and standing on the field of play?". That's what EVe players do when they undock, they are entering the field of play, in an environment where everyone can play the way they want to.
I always accepted that, and knew that priority one was to watch out for other players who might be intent on screwing with me even though I personally had no burning desire to screw with other people. I incorporate that awareness into every second of playing, I incorporate it into how I fit my ships and where I go, I even see it a a PART of my gameplay ie I judge my gameplay success not just by the isk and loot I get, but by my ability to thwart the goals of players who choose to screw with me. I didn't say this 1st here but whoever did got it right: "getting the loot is PVE, getting away with it is PVP". It's why my favorite high sec anomaly/event Gila is called the "Aluminum Falcon" lol.
But time and time again I've watched people choose to play the same game I am, which exposes them to the same reality I am, and they just can't deal with the idea that others can screw with them, even though this is what EVE is world renowned for. So they march to the forum (or youtube like that video guy did) and rationalize their own pitifulness, in a sign of being mad at people who figured out a puzzle they coudn't.
The guy in the video is wrong, their aren't two types of gamers (the mouth breathing PVPrs and the innocent and pure carebears according to him). Their are three types, the third being people who actually accept the consequences of the fact that though they prefer PVE, they choose to play a pvp game, and act accordingly. |

i'd say there are even more types of players. in a game like eve where there are killboards and every ship has cargo (even explorers, not like in ED) there are a lot of incentives to shoot at helpless vessels. bump in statistics or their cargo. i mean we once killed a merlin in npc null with a plex in it and shuttles with 1 or 2 faction mods in their tiny 10m3 bay... everything goes in eve.
elite dangerous is a different story as the whole warping / accelerating in warp mechanic is much slower and as a pirate you have actualy the tools there to ransom people for their ships and stuff. eve is still better though :P |

Pretty much my stance in EvE. And when things do go wrong, i.e. my ship blows up at the hands of another player, i am an 'I don 't care bear'.
Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format.
Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

I would use "moron" or "1d1ot" if it was me rambling on.. but then again, i dont like eve players on a general basis.
So ill head back to roasting my Fedo.... while picking my nose |

He refuses to respond to my requests to do an interview. That's because his ears are embedded somewhere in the region of his bowels; one of his comments is that Eve isn't an open-world PvP game FFS.
