I know everyone seems to put dual capital reppers on thier carriers, but is this a bad setup?
I figured in High-grade salve set for the armor amount.
Archon

Or is this a better setup?
Archon - 2
High-Mids the same

Capital reps at level 4 is -100 cap/sec each. So in both cases i can perma run the rep(s)

The second setup is the better of the two. Think about it; you're sacrificing a single EANM, which raises your resists about 10% across the board, for twice as strong a tank in the form of a second capital repairer. Although, is there any way you can keep the perma 2 rep setup running wihout the CPR? (I think a DC is mandatory on most ships, capitals are no exception imo.)
Take what I say with a grain of salt, I have 0 personal experience in flying the things.

I wounder how a aux pump II, CCC II and a CCC would work on it then. Or just a Aux pump and 2x CCC pumps. with two CCC you might not need the Beta and can add back that EANM

I'd have to remove the sensor booster to remove the CPR, which is bad because carriers have horrible locktime and short lock range.
look at explosive, going from 84 to 90% resists is the same as going from 0% to 37.5% resists, nearly 40% less damage taken. (this seems too high, so somebody correct my math skills if needed)
and i can keep the first setup running even with 7 heavy diminising nos on me, the second setup 3 heavy nos and i'll eventually run out.
EDIT: 3 CCC increases my cap/sec at peak to +187 (need at least 200 to run both reps)
12 more cap at peak recharge is NOT worth losing over 50k max cap.

make sure to take into account your carrier skill level because of the archon's bonuses... it eliminates the need for 1 EANM at L4/5

This is exactly the type of advice you do not need. Someone speaking out of his *** without a single clue. Such a thing as resistance bonus from the ship is completely irrelevant to this discussion.
look at explosive, going from 84 to 90% resists is the same as going from 0% to 37.5% resists, nearly 40% - that's prolly from a bit of rounding... As the difference is the 3rd penalty eanm + DC = roughly 0.8*0.85= 32% better resistance, which is roughly 47% higher DPS tankable (assuming max skills). Of course, for EM it'll be the 2nd penalty on the eanm and a better result. So the 1-rep setup can tank roughly 3/4 of the incomming DPS that the 2-rep can tank.
It totally depends on the situation you'll use it in. I obviously see you have remotes fitted... Will there be other carriers around to remote you? Then you should absolutely go with 1 rep. The 1-rep setup also has much higher "base HP" in case you'll be in a situation where you take very high DPS under a limited ammount of time, which can typicly occur in an engagement where enemies die or warp off.
The 2:nd can handle more nossing a bit better as you can still run one of the reps, while as you say under a certain ammount of nossing the 1-rep setup can tank more, and so on.
It is really just down to the situation. Without an exact situation it's impossible to tell which one is best.
Am I forced to have any regret? I've become the lie, beautiful and free In my righteous own mind I adore and preach the insanity you gave to me |
