Brothers and Sisters, Fathers and Mothers in the Faith.
To all the faithful of the true and living God. She who has ears to hear, let her hear.
It is not very difficult to wander from a pure expression of faith in this place and find oneself in a mire of moral morass. Indeed, it seems that the rare conversation indeed does not sink to depravity in a hedonistic rush to the bottom, where the quarrel over who precisely can be the most offensive takes place in true earnest.
All the races should be ashamed. Amarr, you are avatars of our God. It is in you that He struck the diving spark. You, being closer to God the Father, are more to live as beacons of light amongst the darkness, and not indulge in a Gallentean orgy of impropriety and muck. You, Caldari, your calling is to bring precepts of honour and virtue in service to others. Your culture is a rich one and not easily cheapened by foolish lips and coarse jesting. Gallente - you claim freedom. I ask what are you freed to do? Despise decency and indulge base passions, lust, and inuendo in the pursuit of a cheap laugh, a flitting chorus of pleasure drawn forth from the foolish lips of the twittering minds that perch in their own excrement before you. You claim freedom, but you are not free. You are slaves to dissipation; in bondage to dissolution; shackled by the God of your bellies and appetites. As for the Minmatar - you are like the younger brother who despises what the family has done for you. You shame your mothers and fight your brothers. Elder brothers to whom respect should be shown are mocked and ridiculed when the love they have as Amarr for you is plain for all to see. Will you not come home, penitent and contrite that you may demonstrate the truth of the reclaiming - that listening to wisdom is good for all and best brings about a society that pleases God.
If we please God, will He not know us? And He know us, what is shut to us as His beloved?
But His temper will not hold forever. Many sparks must fly as the sword is forged. Much impurity is burned away under the purifying blows of His hammer. We are tempered, we are forged by His hand, we are His workmanship. Will the sword say to the Smith "Who art thou to makest me so?" Would not the smith destroy such an impertient tool made by His own hands to His own glory?
Turn ye, Turn ye. Why wouldst ye die?
Put aside harsh speaking, base talking, corrupt lips. Whatever is noble, or just, or pure, or righteous - these things think ye on.
Perhaps today you think more of your rights than His right to you. Perhaps you insist on your freedom, forgetting it extends only so far as He opens His hand for you. Perhaps you hope to find time later to deal with the things of God. You fool! Who has bewitched you? Do you not know that this very night your life may be claimed from you and you will stand before the Mighty Judge of the living and the dead and an accounting will be made. Come home to God today. Do not say tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow for tomorrow may never come.
Here endeth the lesson.

Well, I suppose it was time for another fresh Amarr graduate to proselytize at us.
Ok, kid, I'll give your full pitch its due attention as soon as you can do one thing:
Demonstrate empirical proof of God's existence.
Also, hi, welcome to the IGS, please don't take anything anyone here says personally, because nobody here is worth getting personally offended over this early in your career. Hope to talk to you more. |

Are you planning to abduct him and force him to camp out in any of the spiritual sites of Matar and make him listen to the stream and wind for a year or three?

I was actually thinking of abducting him and locking him in Maintenance Closet #6 on Deck 19 of Huggar Station. It's isolated. It's out of the way. No foot or cargo traffic. You can really hear the atmospheric circulator just below you and the sewage reprocessor two decks above you, having their quiet conversation about making sure everyone on the station stays alive. After a couple of days, you can almost make out the words... |

I wonder who this could be in response to?
I offer this as my response: you are right, I am a slave. I am a slave to humor. The same as any soldier who survives the marathon, not sprint, that is endless war. I am a slave to humor because humor is the only thing that keeps me sane and alive in the hell in which nullsec combat pilots live. The hell we live in because we'd rather burn in hell for eternity, risk our own humanity itself, than be bored for an hour. So yes, I'll take the lesser evil that is a cheap joke over insanity, any day.
Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole.
And this foundation must be defended.
At any cost

You know something? Amarr worshipers, your right. We're in service to your god..... not you. We're all his servants right? Therefore you aren't in the equation for us in any way, shape, or form. That means you can leave us alone now to our own devices and well pretend we care about your god/religion. Thank you.
Edit: You can also allow those currently enslaved to be freed since they are "his" servants, not yours, aswell. |

I'd ask your fogiveness, if you would grant it, as pressing business of little import to you, but still demanding my attention has kept me from responding as soon as I would have liked. But God's providence is as much a gift as anything and I am grateful for His hand in even these seminal minor matters of circumstance. I have been reading with some interest the responses to my minor missive, and am grateful to find a few moments here to respond.
I'd note, firstly, that the hooting from vocal minority is as welcome as any other. Friends, there is power in God, as our glorious Empire asserts at every moment. We welcome our cynics. We doubt that our words will sway many, but a sick person should not leave the clinic because he coughs. We labor here as physicians of the soul and there is little danger that the symptoms of their particular sickness can spread to us.
Let us be grateful that they hear us. A prophet is not much use in the void
However, amidst the noise were some signals and it seems worthy to me to adders some or these. Let's look first at the idea that poor behavior by one, or some, or even all invalidates the call to righteousness. It of course, does not - rather it heightens it. It grieves me That some see sin in others as a license in themselves, and not as a lesson. God is not so easily mocked. One is not a faithful supplication simply because they claim it. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Similarly, God's call to standards are not bound to believers, but intrinsic to His holiness. Just as a royal Herald does not dethroned the king if they pronounce teeason, foolish of even sinful self-professed believers do not void the call to righteousnes..
And to the soul who finds umbrage at the protectively custody of one for another, that is a big topic. I have a brief homily we may share next time where we can look at theses things together. In a similar vein, it is indeed a challenge to all the Gallente Federation: it's a challenge to all. I suspect that you're deflecting by making this about something other than ethical maturity. I invite you to reflect on your behavior, not on imaginings of non existent threats
I look forward to more conversation and direct you all to my comms networks for messages if you wish further discussion in a more conducive manner.

Ethical maturity's an interesting concept, Theon, but it does tend to fall apart a little when you try to define it. Which act is ethicially 'mature': to attempt to push your beliefs and your culture on another people, subjugating them and exploiting them for your benefit, or leaving them uneducated regarding God and salvation, and dooming them toGÇöas we've recently been toldGÇönot eternal hellfire, but oblivion?
Does one individual have an ethical right to seek to force another to continue to live, even if that person actively seeks to die? Who gets to decide that? And on what basis do they claim the ethical authority to claim their judgment is more qualified than that of the person in question?
Remember, claims of that sort need some kind of quantifiable evidence to support them. |

People will act according to their own understanding of the world. It seems a little futile to ask them not to.
Maybe it's a mistake to hold everybody to the same standard of ethics to begin with? |
