Correct me if my assumption is somewhat wrong, after the latest patch hull upgrades have following effect:
Nanofiber: Reduce Mass-Does not affect agility (Turning/Acceleration), does not give speed bonus, speed bonus applicable only when AB/MWD is on.
Overdrive Injector: Reduced cargo space with speed bonus
Inertial Stabs: Reduce inertial which translate into better turning, acceleration and deceleration with no speed bonus. (Increase Signature Radius)
So fitting my salvaging geddon, decided to try all 8 slots Beta Inertial stab. Didn't find any difference with those 8 on and then off. Turning speed, acceleration, deceleration, pre-warp acceleration remains the same. So am I doing something wrong, mis-understood the latest nerf or stabs not working? Can any kind soul shed some light into my current dilemma. If there's a stacking penalty with the modules, even 2 stabs didn't really make me go like a ballet dancer, still like the old hunky gorilladon.
Thanks in advance.

They are indeed stacking nerfed now. I think.
Try going through a gate, or some other session change. Or dock/undock, might help.
Of course, the Geddon was never terribly nimble. ---

The nano affect your turning/accelleration, because that factor is decided by the base inertia*skill*inertia stab*mass. ----

but if you read description on nanofiber - Reduces Mass of ship, but does not increase agility. Then inertial stab affect agility and taking mass into account. How does it fit into the picture now? Cross line in their formula?
Going by your formula, adding inertial stab with nanos would boost agility even more, but doesn't seem to be the case with my salvageddon (3 stabs beta and 2 beta nano). Still as slow in turning and acceleration as the predecessor....

I think u will see the effect on inertia stabs only if u try to orbit an item very close ( orbit at 500m). Inertia stabs allows u to orbit at higher speed.

Edited by: Ishtar1 on 22/03/2007 10:35:02 i remember reading somwhere if you are wanting to go for the whole *get into warp as fast as possable* thing u are better off using only 2 I-stabbs then nano's as after the stacking nerf the 3rd I-stabb gives less turning speed etc than 1 nano (i think lol) just i saw that u were using 8 of them and due to the stacking nerf basicly pointless going more than 3 just a pointer

Nanos have no effect on warp speed. 3 i-stabs is the best you are going to get, no more instawarp ships

-1% mass has in *all* aspects an identical effect on the agility of a ship as -1% inertia. It's the same thing. The only difference is that -mass also improves you ab/MWD speed.
Both modules improve your turning speed & and acelleration. The best way to measure your agility practically is to see how long your ship takes from 0% to 100% speed when moving in a straight line.
Esurnir's formula is correct. Only thing to add would be the agility mod, which you can look up i .e. in the battleclinic database, at least if you want to compare the agility of ships of different classes (i.e. BC vs BS).

Interesting. I remember from pre patch that nanos, although popularly believed to improve time-to-warp, actually didn't. Has this now changed then?

They improved time to warp before the patch as well.

Nope
I will test this when I get home, but I'm pretty sure nanos used to just improve mwd bonus.

Edited by: Aramendel on 22/03/2007 11:05:57 Well, whatever they did they *certainly* were not doing this.
Prepatch nanos gave a +20-30 m/s speed boost and a -12.5-15% inertia reduction. Neither improves only your MWD speed. You seem to confused things here.
Your time to warp is dependant on your ship agility (turning speed/acelleration speed). Agility (lower = better) is agility mod * mass * inertia reduction. Nanos had a -inertia bonus. They were very much improving your time to warp.
Fit 3-4 instabs (which are now the only module with an inertia reduction) on an hauler and tell me that it does not go faster into warp.
