We can abandon any PI commend center no matter how far the distance is.
However, we cannot abandon any BPC/BPO, and may cause people have to travel whole eve to deliver the researched BPO to release a research line.
Research completed, BPO/BPC should auto-deliver to hanger, or not occupy a research line, or can abandon it no matter how far the distance is.

You want to stop research and have the BPC/BPO delivered to you. You don't want them to be destroyed. When you take down a Command Center you lose all the materials you had there. Two very different things. |

Big difference is there is a skill for 'Range' for science jobs "Scientific Networking", no such skill exists for PI, pain in the butt I know, especially if you've got a job stuck in a nullsec outpost that you no longer have access to, if that's the case you might be able to petition it and see if they can cancel the job, but I've not been involved in S&I for ages so I'm not sure. |

You know you don't need to be in the same region for industry jobs, right? you just need to be within the range the skill gives you.

25 jumps of range covers at least a region or two (or more).
Tip: the auto-pilot route is used for the skill check, so setting "shortest" can often shorten the distance by routing through lowsec & nulsec. |
