I am trying to find out exactly how skill boost implants work. I.e do they actually accelerate training a skill or do they just temporarily boost it
For example, I have a pilot that is training to use a jump freighter, now in a clean head to get from level IV to level V evemon tells me that the training will take 80 days 8hr now if I have a set of +5 willpower and perception implants that does down to 62 Days 2hr which is fantastic a whole 18 days saved.
But am I right in thinking that if I jumped into a clone with no implants after say 24 hours, the training would go back to 79 days 8 hours. So the implants do not accelerate the SP gained per hour whilst you have them in, they just lessen the training time whilst you have them in, but you lose that advantage entirely when you jump to a clone without implants.
So basically if you spend most of your time in a clone without implants, then there is no point jumping to ta "training clone" for short periods as there is no real long term advantage, am I right in thinking that?
Does that make sense?
Thanks

Nope, you've got it backwards. The implants affect your current training speed by increasing the amount of sp gained per hour. So if you jump clone into a +5 clone, and stay there for a day, you'd have a day worth of increased training speed, it wouldn't retroactively slow down your training speed.
Hope that helped! |

The implants affect the clone and skills you are currently in. When you jump, the implants in the next clone are your new training modifier.
If you just trained for 1 day with the plus 5's, it would indeed save more than 1 day of the 80 days,8 hrs. Each set of implants saves you 90 SP per hour (typically) over the next lower set. The difference between 5's and nothing is 90x5x24hrs=10800 SP per day, or roughly 5 and a half hrs a day in time saved. Again, rough estimate, 23% time savings. It really adds up if you can do it for long term. 5 years of skills in 4 years is kinda awesome.
If you don't PvP, it's pretty safe to train in a +5 clone all the time. If you PvP in low-sec, it's risky, but not impossible to get your pods out safely. +4's are less risky and a LOT less expensive.
Remember, you only need the 2 primary implants for most skill plans. Perception and willpower for several months , or intel and memory, or whatever. |

With no implants and a balanced attribute map you will train 1800 SP/hour. With +5 implants and an optimized attribute map it increases to 2700 SP/hour- a 50% increase. Plus 4 implants and a balanced attribute map will put you roughly in the middle. You get a couple of bonus remaps with a new character but, other than those, you can only remap once per year.
Each skill uses 2 attributes the primary at full value and the secondary at half value - the other 3 attributes don't matter. If, for example you are training an engineering skill it uses intelligence and memory.
There are also skill boosters that increase training speed for a limited amount of time. These are currently being offered as rewards for the Crimson Harvest event.
As already mentioned, you will use the attributes of the clone you are in. If you jump or die, you will immediately switch to the attributes of the new clone. |

Indeed, from what I gather from the implants and these new accelorators, increase the SP per hour so if you revert back to a normal clone you would have still benefitted from the period of time spent in that implanted clone

Correct. Many people will jump into an empty clone when they go out to PVP and then jump into a clone with a set of +4 or +5 implants when they go off to PVE in highsec or do some other low risk activity for precisely this reason.
The same holds true if someone is going to be away from the game for a few days. May as well get some faster training speed in while you aren't flying around blowing things up and getting shot at. |
