Edited by: Jack Target on 24/03/2007 23:58:24 I want to get my security status to 8.0 so I can get a jump clone (I have implants, you see).
I'm currently a member of the State War Academy, so I think my corporation standing is 10.
Therefore, how long would it take to get my security status to 8.0? I haven't done any missions before, but I'm thinking of not getting podded - so is it possible to get up to a security level of 8.0 doing level 1 missions only?
Which would be the safest method?

You need a standing with a corporation to be at 8.0, not your security status. You need to then go to that corporation's station to install a jump clone.

Edited by: Soporo on 25/03/2007 00:11:42 I'm what? 5 months old maybe and have been missioning fairly seriously about 3 of those months. My sec status is 4. It aint fast, and it aint easy.
Like the man said, its your standings you need to look at. Wherever it is your trying to install a jump clone, whatever organization that owns it, could be player or non player corp.

I suppose it's theoretically possible to grind to an 8.0 rating just doing L1 missions, but I'm guessing you'd need to do thousands of missions to do so. In other words, you'd be insane to do it. If you're that worried about losing a ship, grind up to at least L3 missions and do courier missions. But you do realize that rats never pod people, right? You will never, ever lose your implants to rats in a mission.
So just grind your way to L4 combat missions. Those will be the fastest way to get to 8.0. You may lose some ships in the process, but if you're scared about that, then jump clones won't be worth it, since if you're too scare to take the chance to lose a ship, you'll never lose your pod to begin with.

Doesn't your security status top out at 5.0 anyways?

i dont have screenshots; but i have seen 5.1 and 5.2
but i dont think you can install jcs in concord stations
explanations :
the "status" for jumpclone is the STANDING between corp and you. can be any corp. if it's concord then it's your sec status; but thats the only one
the usual easy way is either to :
build a single man corp and make missions for ONE corp. install jc; done
this only task can take you weeks. but if you're in a not-one-man corp, forget it
easiest way : go to 0.0, ask in an outpost. install jc; done
because the owner of the outpost is a corp. that corp can set standings. and can give you access (8.0 stuff, exact same)
standings is a very simple thing; it has no link with your actions, it's just a "relationship" with an entity that can then offer you a service ------

So the quickest way is to join a corp that has a good standing with a relevant station!
That shouldn't take too long! Just need to find the right corporation for me!

Edited by: Dangermouse DM on 25/03/2007 00:50:24 You're missing something critical here. What makes you think you get 10 standing by joining a corp? And what makes you think you need sec status to get a clone?
You will need to do missions for a corp to raise standings, the best thing to do is find a station with an agent you can use and a storyline agent then run missions for that agent until you get a storyline mission. All these missions should give you enough standing to be able to use a better agent do this a few times moving up the ladder to level 3 agents, you should be able to get 8 standing without advancing to level 4s

As long as he has no standings with a faction\corp that his own corporation has an average of +7/8? with, he can install JC's. I my self have 4 JC's thanks to this "Corp Average" policy, rather than individual standings.
Quote: Also, he didnt even have a Scrambler, so the POS would have gotten away anyway. |

You as a member of State War Academy (the starting corp) can have a jump clone because they have standings of 10 with all other caldari corps? Is that what you're telling me?

There is a difference between security standing and standings with your agents. You need a 8 or higher with your agent to get a jc. Security standings have nothing to do with getting a jump clone.
If your doing mishes for the caldari Navy, you will need an 8 or better with them to get a jc.
A better and faster way to get jc's is to join a corp in 00 and buy one at one of there stations.

Hats of to you who can stand the boring mission grinding. Personally i can't stand it and never did any missions after my first week in EvE. My standings are around 0.4 or thereabouts .... and i have 5 JumpClones.
Trick is simple: Join a Corp that has an office in an Outpost. not just a 0.0 NPC station but a real Outpost, run by a player controlled corporation. You can change the location of your medical clone to any place where your corp has an office, change it to the Outpost office, undock and selfdestruct your pod. Voila, you'll instantly respawn somewhere deep in 0.0 Go to the medical tab, install a Jumpclone in that Outpost and your set. Buy a new medical clone as well (don't want lose skillpoints). When we were in 0.0 we did this with almost every recruit, beats traveling 65 jumps through hostile terrain, called it the Clone ExpressÖ. Getting back was just as easy, change the location of the medical clone back to the corp office in empire space, undock and selfdestruct the pod, update medical clone upon arrival. Now your all set and no more selfdestructing is needed. You have the JumpClone at the Outpost location, then travel to anywhere in Empire where you would like to have a Jumpclone, any station, it really doesnt matter. From there Clone Jump back to the Outpost. The 'Body' you leave behind in the empire station will become the 'new' JumpClone and the Clone in the Outpost will become the 'active' you, they basicly Switched places. You now have a JC at your desired location in empire space, buy a 2nd one at the Outpost office, rinse and repeat , 3rd one , 4th one etc. You only need the 8.0 Corp standing at the location where you 'buy' the extra copy of you, wich playerrun corporations can set with the click of a mousebutton. From then on you can have your JC's anywhere, since everytime you jump 'to' a clone, you leave your 'old' you behind at your current location, wherever in the universe that is.
PS: With implants it's trickier, no selfdestructing to get to the Outpost, you'll have to fly there manually with all the risks involved. in that case have a corpmate scout the way for you to check for gatecamps.
In the past the alliance called Interstellar Starbase Syndicate had a Jumpclone policy, for a small fee they would set your corporation to the appropriate standing so your whole corp could get JC's in one of their Outposts, like the one in ECP-8R for example, just 1 jump from Torrinos in empire space. Alas the stations have all been conquered. If the new owners have the same policy i do not know.

Ratting gets you to 5.0, I was told that certain missions contained rats that would increase it further (which I found to be true). Having had no sec status transactions since 31.12.06 it was confirmed to me that those missions no longer gave sec increases beyond 5.0

sorry, just realised that this thread is primarily about jump clones. As already stated you just need corp standing to 8.0 (not sec status nor faction)

Esay way to get empire jumpclones:
1. Go to a 0.0 station that allows neutrals to install jumpclones (D2's Emliy's Revenge station for example) 2. Install a jumpclone there 3. Get your main clone back to empire 4. Clonejump to your JC 5. Move your JC down to empire 6. ??? 7. PROFIT!

Starting from the beginning, only working for a particular corp of a particular faction going through level 1 to 4 missions - as they presently exist - would take about 2-3 months 6 hours a night play I reckon or about 10 missions a night. Yes its dull but as a means to an end people choose to do it.
On a side note, having high faction standings with a particular entity should mean something more and I hope it does come factional warfare. At the moment you can rat in 0.0 and kill angles/sanshas/etc all day but are still able to dock at said corporations that you slaughter most days for isk or whose belts (read their assets) you mine or trespass in.
The same goes for people with a high standing towards a particular entity. If a player attacks someone with a high corp standing to Quafe (ie. an agent runner for this corporation) it stands to reason that that npc will hold you in bad stead for your actions in a similar way that Concord holds you bad stead for attacking anyone without reason in empire - low and high sec.
A change to sec status making it mean something whereever you are in Eve, not just in empire and low sec is needed, player and/or npc defined. A mechanism whereby IAC could put Quafe to +8.0 (with repucussions and benefits) could be interesting and link empire with 0.0...as well as aligning the alliance as a whole (and getting free Quafe)
Last few paragraphs are a bit of a ramble but the meaning of sec status does need a rework imho.
