Info on this I found was old, looking for updated. Do nosferatu work on NPC targets? NPC ships used to have a cap that never runs out, so they should always have more cap percentage than you, correct?
What about neutralizers? Can they shut down a NPC cap? |

Neut's do nothing to NPCs, but NOS does work. Non-sleeper NPCs DO however have a limit to how much you can draw from them via NOS, while Sleepers have an infinite pool.
Disclaimer: I havent personally tested/checked this in awhile.

Ty for reply. Energy neut appears to be a PvP only module.
Do you know about the general mechanics of the energy vamp? I know it only works if your cap is lower than the target cap. Is this measured by percentages or total values of the cap?
Example, 3250 is 50% cap for me, 1000 is 100% cap for the target ship, if using percentages, the vamp should transfer cap back to my ship, right? Is this how it is in-game today? |

Vampire works against NPCs.
Neuts don't do a damn thing against them, so those are only for PvP.
I believe all NPCs have infinite cap pools so suck away!

Neuts supposedly reduce or cancel out NPCs' chance for self reps, though no one's ever shown any evidence to back that up. And, by evidence, anything short of CCP personally confirming or correcting that rumor. For players to test that out themselves would require extensive, long term, and air-tight testing. That's not likely to be a very useful or meaningful enough reason to bring neuts anyways, even if true. You'd be more likely to bring them strictly under the notion of being used in case of another player pinning you in a corner and provoking a fight rather than the chance it might be useful against a tough-repping rat.
NPC's don't have infinite cap, btw, they just never use it for anything. They have regular cap pools, but nothing they use or do ever consumes it.

I have seen 6 large NOS all feeding off the same NPC frigate and it never capped out, while they may not have infinite cap they have more than enough to feed the NOS needs of a single ship or even a small group of ships. |

Odd. I was under the impression from websites that pull from the Eve database that NPC rats have regular sized cap pools. I was told they just don't ever deplete, whether they're firing off a mod or you're hitting them with Neuts or NOS, which is why NOS always worked against them.

Maybe NPC ships have a very high cap regen rate, but that's just a guess on my part.
As for a neut interfering with active regen modules on NPC ships, I'm fairly certain I've seen a comment from a CCP dev confirming that the mechanism does/did exist in the game, but it was a few years ago now, I can't find the comment any more, and the mechanism may have been removed in a game update after the comment was made.
As I remember the comment, no numbers were specified, but it was mentioned that the relative sizes of the ships affected the chance of it happening, implying that a small player ship had a lower chance of interrupting a regen cycle of a large NPC ship compared to a player ship of equal/larger size to the NPC ship. Nothing was mentioned about a gang of small player ships compared to a larger NPC ship.
