Are you sure it's going to be available on January 3rd? It's been delayed so many times already...
Yes, at least in the US. Amazon in the US says they'll have it at my door on Jan 3. "The world as we know it came about through an anomaly (anomou)" (The Gospel of Philip, 1-5)-á |

I've been waiting for this book since EA came out! Thanks for making it happen Tony, all your stuff has been a pleasure to read!
I'm kinda shocked that you were one of the people let go but I guess it makes sense given the new focus. It doesn't mean I have to like it though.
Either way you've made a fan out of me, I look forward to reading any of your stuff in the future.

Waiting still for it on amazon >*:( meh, also very sad to see TonyG go, despite all the flaws, he had a way , quirky but catching, of portraying the eve universe. Ill miss him dearly, only writer worth my money to buy eve novels. Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

I don't usually reply to dev blogs, but when I do, I do it so I can protest a big mistake, like laying off one of the driving forces behind Eve Lore, TonyG. Bad move CCP, get him back and running ASAP. |

I'm surprised to hear that TonyG was in the '20 percent' and its sad news. Good luck with whatever you are going on to do, I've been looking forward to reading Templar One for some time so its going to be a bit poignant to read I think. http://uglebsjournal.wordpress.com/ |

I would have thought that the number of pre-orders would be enough to convince CCP that TonyG is a valuable enough member of the team to keep around. It's this aspect of the game that almost all players can appreciate - some considerably more than others.
I too was pulled in by the eve lore. I've read all of the cronicles and news articles. These are the things that pull people into EVE. One may think that graphics or gameplay are core to a game. One might also be thinking about what the appeal for a first-person shooter is. EVE's graphics are quite awesome indeed, but there is nothing ground-breaking in them alone. Without the backstory provided by CCP (and by extension TonyG), CCP wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
While there may have been other circumstances surrounding his termination, I have concerns that this position will be filled with someone 'not as qualified' as Mr. Gonzales.
Unless you have someone waiting in the wings to replace TonyG to the degree that we don't know that he's missing, I strongly suggest you rehire him at the earliest possible opportunity. He was a great contributor for the foundation of what we all know and love.

I'm looking forward to this book, hopefully it will be available for sale in Australia some time. Empyrean Age still isn't available as an ePub, apparently the USA takes Australia's history as a penal colony for bread thieves a little too seriously.

Echoing Caiden Baxter above, Empyrean Age was one of the best game tie-in books I've ever read. I read it within a day or two because I couldn't put it down. The characters and story were very rich and it got me back into the game after a lull in my interest. I'm glad to see that I'll get to enjoy another one of Tony's books, but I'm shocked that you are letting him go.
I know terminations are an internal matter between employer and employee, and nothing we fans say will change that, but I will join the others here in saying that I think its a big big mistake.
Best of luck in your future endeavors Tony. |

An effortless and production-costless kindle edition is more expensive than the paperback.

Actually the paperback is $14.99 (retail, on the book), so looks like you're getting a discount on it. Not surprising if you have the Amazon Premium subscription (or whatever its called). Or perhaps Amazon itself is doing the discount. I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

One thing I've learned in EVE... the backstory doesn't matter, except to justify quirks in the engine (warping through planets anyone?) Seriously, I enjoy story, but the only hooks for story (mission descriptions) are extremely tedious. The chronicles are okay except most of them are more exposes (a description of stuff without much of a plot) rather than actual stories. I would like that to not be the case, but considering how invested players already are in the game, I don't picture it changing regardless of the work put into it.
And so much of the story is so exclusionary. Seriously, I've been trying to figure out what the hell the Alex'sJammies thing is since I first heard about it, and the response has always been redolent of some hipster "if you don't already know you're not cool enough to know" kind of crap. Even from the devs managing it.
The EVE story is not for EVE players. |

Wow. I'm really happy the book is out. But I'm very sad that TonyG has been let go.
The chronicles are what drew me into Eve. They created such a dark world. The Empyrean Age was a great book as far as game inspired books go. |
