I know what is a "closed beta" and I've signed DPA before so I can't find where I'm missing something. I'm just asking for some little more information about CCP intentions about _when_ to start the thing up. Options are (example):
1- in 1 week from "now" 2- in less than 1 month 3- in at least one month 4- when we'll have reached the $put_a_number_here subscribers 5- when we'll have at least $put_a_number_here players for each timezone 6- there's no 6 7- we have things to fix with sony (assuming the beta will be running on their servers). As soon as we'll have them fixed we can start deploying the beta for the "elected ones" 8- any other option clarifying something about their technical requirements
So, again, I guess it's really just a "poor communication issue" what we're facing. It wouldn't change a thing to be informed about these basic elements and of course I don't think their plans should change because "we want", just to know something more. A better interaction with the community at this point should only bring more interest (and buzz) so...... why not?

The point of DUST 514 is to promote integrated cross-platform gaming.
What would be the point of that if it was on PC?
None of your whining or crying is going to make it any different, buy or steal yourself a PS3 and shut up.

I recall the keyboard was going to be compatible to facilitate communications, but I do not remember reading anything that confirmed absolutely that keyboard and mouse will be supported while fighting. If I'm wrong please post a source and I will shut my mouth.

This game is designed to innovate. To do something new. And to promote cross-platform gaming.
It fails in these goals if it is just another PC game.
Its not about selling copies. It's not about making EvE players happy.
It's about expanding the EvE world to a new group of players that play on a different platform. The best way to achieve this goal is to only have the game on a different platform, lest everyone simply default to using their PC's and missing the target audience entirely.
CCP knows those that actually want to play bad enough will buy up a PS3 to do so, many of us have. And if not, thats an acceptable situation to them as well.
Its a simple matter of priorities. Having the project successfully demonstrate the potential of cross-platform gameplay means more to CCP than making the most isk, or making the most friends. Money is certainly important to them, but I'm sure their marketing department sees more long-term income potential in having what will start out likely as a cult PS3 game spread virally over a few years throughout the console world, than having a small portion of the EvE crowd stop playing EvE for a bit to try Dust 514 and move back to EvE when they're bored.
As I've said before, they have no magical sales goal they have to hit to make their money back. There's no need to try to appease everyone, time is on their side with this one since its mostly been paid for.

For gods sake show a little bit of patients.
I have no idea how the new console MMO will generate a revenue for CCP but I know for sure they wouldn't want their competitors knowing about it before they had even got a release.
If you want information be patient, you are getting a genuine opportunity to get early access to the flagship console title which has potential to change console gaming for everyone.
I appreciate we all have questions about the impact on eve but since when did CCP start giving market traders and builders insider information on the types of ships and goods that will in demand when Dust hits the shelves?
I'm looking for new recruits for my corp by the way, if anyone is looking for a new Eve/Dust corp. |

Oustanding issues on this thread
1. Do players need a Playstation Plus account? 2. Why did non EU and US players get an invite if they are not actually allowed in the Beta? (can Aussies participate?) 3. Launch window for the beta? 4. Will EVE-side features of the beta be up for testing on SiSi? Will EVE and Dust players be able to interact? 5. Will the Playstation Vita be part of the Beta? 6. Length of the beta 7. Will characters be wiped after closed beta? 8. When will the Beta keys be issued? \ Bonus question: When will Flamespar get his invite. Look, he made you a handy list. See how helpful he is? I can post on a forum, therefore I represent everyone. |

Ummm CCP has already said Dust 514 will be supported by microtransactions? the destructible nature of Dust 514 clones and equipment (Thats right guys, no unlimited respawns here, you die, you lose your stuffs, you pay to get more!!) means that console players will be purchasing Aurum to buy equipment with. Dust 514 has always had a microtransaction-based business model, this was known going all the way back (and was part of the controversy) to the "Fearless" newsletter last summer. "The towels are free if you want to swim in the pool - but you'll pay for the goggles" was the mindset, and nothing's changed since than.
That aside, what is all this about insider trading, and ships and goods being in demand?
All i see here is a bunch of anxious beta testers wondering when the action begins, and how people will be selected from the pool of applicants, that's not unreasonable information to be requesting.
Many people have literally gone out and bought PS3's so they could be ready when this day came - they deserve a little more than to be left hanging. CCP doesn't have to "give away trade secrets" just to tell fans if / when they will be selected to participate.
And than, after complaining about people abusing this thread for personal gain, and being impatient in general, you than spam for recruitment for your own corp ??
You're all over the place, I don't follow you here at all.....

I apologize if you mistook me for a troll. The first part of my post I was trying to answer your question about microtransactions, I thought it would be helpful for you to know what the payment scheme was since you asked. I mean this with sincerity.
I said the second part because I honestly don't know what you were referring to about the value of goods, and market competition, I'd appreciate it if you could clarify what you meant. I didn't mean to come across as negative, all of us post things from time to time that are unclear, myself included.
The players here are simply asking for more details about the Beta testing schedule, can you help me understand what you meant by insider information, and the trading of goods regarding Dust 514....? Did you mean market competition like other game companies? or EvE players trying to game the market based on information they gain from the Dust beta...
I ask this because I, too, love hearing details about Dust 514 that I might of missed! If you know something we don't, please share, we'd love to hear!
Also, there's nothing wrong about recruiting for your corp either, Its just odd for someone to tell a thread full of posters to be stop begging and to be patient about an unreleased game, than begin recruiting for said game that isn't even out yet.....it just sends mixed messages. |

The first point is to emphasise the issues surrounding microtransactions and the integration of a console MMO with a PC MMO, if CCP has evidence as to the success and longevity of their business model I am certain that their industry competitors will be looking to jump into their slip stream.
My point over insider trading is strategic rather than directly related to the aurum/isk split. For example, if you calculate the demand for PI items through exposure to Dust game mechanics, or identify a new role for a Dreadnaught it would be hard to resist exploiting that kind of information.
Recruiting was my attempt to be funny but also legitimately this is a good opportunity to find new corpies who also own a PS3, if you play Eve and Dust you'll want to be a part of a cross platform corporation. |

Yes yes, but what does this have to do with players asking about when the Beta is released? Are you suggesting that the Beta should not be released at all, or be delayed, to prevent the issues you are describing here from causing problems?
Again, I'm asking serious questions, I'm not trying to sound cynical or negative here. |

Dear Capsuleers,
Thank you for your interest regarding the DUST 514 MordusGÇÖs Private Trials registration. I would like to take this opportunity to address some of the concerns raised in this thread.
With regards to the MPT availability, currently it is available In English for English speaking regions. So, if English is the official language in your country, you should be able to access DUST 514 MorduGÇÖs Private Trials from the local PSN store in your area. We are, of course, working on localizing the client so that it becomes available in more regions for the Official Launch. So to recount, the DUST 514 Mordu's Private Trials will be in English only for English speaking regions, and our plan is to have localization for the following languages by Official Launch: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese.
And remember, the DUST 514 MorduGÇÖs Private Trials is still in the registration phase, and that is open to all EVE Online players.
With regards to the DUST 514 MorduGÇÖs Private Trials registration confirmation issue, we will be adding a status page to the EVE Online account management page for those who have signed up to participate in the DUST 514 MorduGÇÖs Private Trials, so you can keep tabs on the status of your registration.

First of all thanks for answering somehow, even if...... did you anser any of our questions?
Prolly I'm more confused than before. You talked about regional issues with the language, saying only "English speaking regions" will be allowed to play. So, if I'm not wrong these "regions" (not existing anymore since the colonialist era), are now these nations: Canda, USA, England, Ireland, South Africa, Australia (+ some sparse island in the middle of nothing somewhere). Note that Iceland shouldn't belong to any "english speaking region" I'm aware of.
So, this is how I interpret your message: "If your not living in one of the named english speaking _nations_ you won't be allowed in the beta". Otherwise since we EVE players are from all over the world and 90% of us is playing on a english client already, why all that troubles for the beta to be localized? Is it all because of sony/PSN restrictions? Guess so
Most of all, you didn't give us any time margin, not even the most vague and faint. How's that? Don't you have the lightest idea about how long will it take? That's me just guessing but anyway I've got the message: I'll be out from this beta, thanks. |

What the hell is that announcement !!!?
So living in France is a deal breaker even when understanding, speaking or writing in english is not a problem ?!
And, as i understand that localization wont be complete until the game's release, this means that even when the beta is gonna be open to PS3 only players, it will only be for English people....
No need to say that i m quite pissed reading this 1h after waking up.... As usual, the same ones gets it all.... |
