Welcome to Yet Another Spitfire's Thread.
Would it be a good idea for CCP to give us Mining laser S, Mining laser M, Mining laser L and Mining laser XL? Mining in a battleship with T2 Miners is a bit slow because it can't munch roids fast enough and it can't break roids more than 12km. It is a large spaceship and it would be fun if it can fit Mining laser L and pew pew roids at 30km.

Only if my barge gets to hit them twice as fast and at a range of 90km .

Nice idea, I think, but I'm concerned about the potential impact on high-sec afk mining and macroers...
------------------------------------------ A big nuke may be nice in a strategy game, but something like this in a game where every unit is a player, and each death costly, is insane. |

Mining lasers on battleships are an abomination anyways, I don't see why we have to make it better to be honest.
It would also gimp out the mining frigate pilots even more than they are now, and I'm not in favour of gimping those poor nubbins. -----

A battleship is a battleship (note: battleship) and a mining barge is a mining barge (note: mining barge).
If you want to munch roids faster train for Exhumers.

Seeing as battleship mining already puts to shame anything less than a covetor I'd have to say no.
Heck if you want to mine in 0.0 your normally better off in a battleship than anything less than a hulk due to the issues mining barges / exhumers have fitting a reasonable tank.

eVe is all about setup. Nobody says you can't fit light frigate blasters on a Thorax cruiser. Mining with a battleship in 0.0 is also way cheaper than a Hulk. It would be balanced if mining lasers come in different sizes. --------- Technica impendi Caldari generis. Pax Caldaria!

Instead of t2 miners you should be fitting modulated deep core miners and crystals pulls in alot more than a t2 miner.

I thought the same thing. Last time I saw a Jenny post, she was all about the pew pew. Now it's getting better mining lasers for battleships.

What you really want is seige mode to work with Miner II's, or Mega Modulated Deep Core Miner II's as you have fitted on your dread. 625% increase in mining yeild per laser :) --

... and at 25% size the roid goes into reinforced mode and can't be shot anymore with a dread until it's back to at least 50%.

Somebody needs to look up the meaning of trolling.
And with that, I am now a troll feeder.
---------
I don't see the need for it, but I don't see what it'd hurt either. Many people who train up the skills to properly mine aren't that far off from barges (and then exhumers). But whatever floats the S.S. CPP.

I can just see it...
Scout jumps into a system. "Contact at belt xyz! Everyone jump in and warp to 100km"
Some poor ratter suddenly see's 20 unknowns in local then they start appearing in their overview... A couple of tacklers warp in at 0. Sniper BS warp in at 100km....
Ratter desperatly tries to get their ship to align (because they rat with no alignment) praying that they get out before the tacklers can scram them.
Suddenly there is a massive wave of laser light! The ratter is blinded by its intensity and starts mashing the warp button in the hope of getting their pod out.
As their retinal burn fades they notice they are still in their ship, unscathed. Looking around they see no contacts, no roids....
