So this doesn't relate to tactics and warfare and that's why I'm not sharing it in the area where FW is commonly discussed.
Does CCP (looking to CCP Falcon for this answer...) have plans to remove references to DUST 514 from EVE Online?
If not, will you be replacing it with Project Nova?
I'm just interested because a lot of stuff I'm reading and even some details on FW system GUI have DUST still part of it.

Dust is like Rust, it never sleeps and is always there getting into everything.
As for the Dev's removing all reference to DUST 514, I highly doubt it since that's a job for Superman. And last time I checked, he doesn't work for CCP.

Hey there. I'm Aeon Amadi in Dust 514 and was part of the CPM. CPM is sort of like the CSM, but for Dust.
Quote:Tl;dr - Shanghai has limited influence on the state of affairs Eve-side, so not much we can do. I dunno what Reykjavik has done or is doing apart from lore mentions that parallel with Nova. What mentions to Dust still exist are largely up for debate on a case-by-case basis.
We discussed it Shanghai-side somewhat extensively and, suffice to say, the impact of Dust 514 is evolving with Project Nova, especially lore-wise. If you read into the world news articles you'll notice a few mentions of various Dust NPC corporations and other lingo pertaining to the groundside of the world.
That being said, it's important to remember that the amount of players that actually utilized the link was, as quoted by one dev, "less than 1% of 1% of the total player-base", so it's not exactly a high priority thing.
I remember that we did bring up the state of affairs with CCP Reykjavik at Fanfest in idle conversation, but that conversation was mostly about what would happen with the link as far as its effects on Eve Online. It was something that we really didn't have an answer for, and I believe the answer was to just leave everything in its frozen state until a better option comes along. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they have, are, or will just remove the district ownership factor from FW completely and return it to its pre-Dust 514 mechanics. It didn't really do anything apart from encouraging farming except in very isolated cases, anyway.
Molden Heath is a bit of a fuzzier problem, because a lot of the corporations/alliances that -did- take advantage of the link (in the form of POS bonuses) now rely on those bonuses to make living in Molden Heath worthwhile. So I'm not sure what happened with that, or really what -will- happen with that. An even more fuzzier problem than that, though, is corporations with Dust interaction. I know a few corporations have Dust CEOs and as a result are effectively null since they no longer have leadership that can make physical/technical changes to those corporations.

Thanks for the info, Aeon. Hopefully we find out more about Project Nova at FanFest next Spring.

Don't place much stock in CCP statistics that are presented as a percentage, especially when it's posted as an opinion without any 3rd party documentation to back it up.

In theory all the Dust mercs still exist, etc. They didn't suddenly all die or anything, it was the OOC game that was discontinued. So lore links remaining are appropriate. Actual in game benefits are a bit harder and as mentioned an unfair advantage in some ways. |

I can understand that point of view, except we did see statistics and documentation on the CPM. It was primarily because there was no way to control where battles were Dust-side and no way to see where battles were Eve-side.

DMC I can understand that point of view, except we did see statistics and documentation on the CPM. It was primarily because there was no way to control where battles were Dust-side and no way to see where battles were Eve-side. That was the primary frustration point, yes. I have a few videos on my YouTube channel that illustrate that.
Doing Orbital Bombardment in Faction Warfare meant being on EVE Voice with a group of players who where queueing for a match, and having them call out the District they were fighting on. Even if you were only queuing for one faction, this commonly then involved a trek of 15+ jumps to get to the system unless the EVE players constantly ran the Plexes to get the match system to spawn them in the same system. Most of the time you'd get there 5 minutes late, and many Dust players thought it was too much hassle and wouldn't bother to give anyone locations.
Once when I was trying to do strikes for Planetary Conquest, I was told they would only use NPC strikes because it was unreasonable to trust an EVE player to deliver the strike fast enough.
The feature needed a lot of work that it never got.
