I searched the forum for "watchlist" and didn't see this topic on the first page of results.
Idea: have ship icons appear on watchlist (see illustration)
I fly logi often so the main justification I can think of is that logi pilots would be able to quickly determine if a watchlisted pilot has been podded and can be safely ignored during battle. |

its UI related and that means entry-requirement for it to happen will be high. thew watchlist is so small that for the people you add, you will likely know what they are flying, mainly logi, i'd think.
nice idea, i don't think it will be feasible to implement vs. the resources needed to do it tho. |

Or you could go back to your piloting school and as a teacher how to logi and she or he may tell you to put a target lock on all the gang buddies you are supposed to watch.
If you have time to watch on your watchlist, you may want to practice logi a little more, you will get there.

Adding the icons would be an easy thing for CCP to do, not so data and server load you may think and I would remind you that the data is already being passed since your overview shows you the type of ship each character is flying. Space to put them into the window on the other hand could be a major issue at least for some of us.
In the end it really does not matter what they are flying. Considering that I keep lock on the ships I am responsible for and use those indicators to monitor them I often use the watch list to monitor other ships that are critical to the fleet even though they are not my responsibility to rep. For this I would rather have the space used to increase the size of those shield, armor and structure indicators instead of a useless type of ship indicator. |

Can't see the use.
I am a logi pilot, and once someone is in a pod they soon die or leave grid. In which case they come off the watchlist anyways. The only possible benefit i can think of is if you change your watch list mid fight and want to remove pods and add on others. But do you really want to be faffing around with the watchlist in the middle of a fight?

For me, the use case isn't strong enough to warrant the change.
A watchlist can only have a maximum of 9 characters on it.
If the fleet is any larger than 1 squad, then the watchlist is already insufficient to monitor your fleet members and there are two ways for logi to really monitor the state of their fleet:
1. use of broadcasts (and watching the fleet window) 2. use of overview settings to show only fleet members and not including capsules
I do often use the watchlist to see who may need reps before they broadcast (if flying armor), or to see who needs reps (if flying shield), but the watchlist only has key people from fleet on it anyway - FC, tackle, Logi anchor, etc. and if we get in a situation where we start losing those ships, then we are probably losing the fight anyway and looking to either whore on as many kills as we can (I'm not proud) or run away.
I like the idea, but for such a small use case, I don't personally see this as a high priority.
