Just had my first serious mining meets exploration experience. In general very nice, adds a lot of interest and variety to mining.
One thing I would like to comment on though is deadspace mining, this particular belt was located in a deapspace pocket. The roids were spread sort of evenly all the way out to 90 km from the warp in point.
This wrecks havoc with barges and hauling.
The hauling I'm ok with, because with some smart use of tractor beams it's easy enough to manage.
Barges however are another matter, 90km in a barge can easily take quarter of an hour. Now I could ask for no deadspace, or roids closer to the warp in point, or faster barges, but I'm not that kinda person.
I like to solve problems with team work, so what I would like is the ability to use a faster ship to tow a barge into position. Of course this towing doesn't need to be limited to barges, but that is the focus of this discussion.
Now obviously this needs to be done in a sensible and balanced way. My thought on how it should work is basically to spread the engines over the combined mass. There is however the little question of wether or not we include the barges engines.
An example: Drake with AB, top speed 340ms, mass 14,000,000kg Retriever, top speed 70ms, mass 20,000,000kg Towing speed Drake engines only (340*14)/(14+20)=140 Towing speed both engines (340*14+70*20)/(14+20)=181

If they did this, they'd have to let us drag off the rookie ships and shuttles that get abandoned right in front of stations as well. Just be careful of the effects of a 3km/s nanophoon dragging stuff around with its mass.
Heh, I can just see a crow grabbing an ibis and catapulting it off into space under MWD.

Seems cool, I kinda like it to tell the truth.
Only downside I can see is people trying to speed-boost haulers...

Warp to 0. Bookmark the Roid thats to far away for your slow mining barge to get to. Warp out then warp to it at 0. But I like the Idea of Towing ships.. No point in towing them BUT atleast we cold use a Tractor beam for what their made to do...

You can't just "warp to 0" in deadspace complexes. There is a specific warp in point that all ships go to. So try doing some of this stuff before you give your opinion on it. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

If the same rules are applied to this as they are to can tractoring it would work and be a good idea (you can only tractor a can from your own gang/corp mate)
This would be nice for parked ships on POS bubbles as well to get a nice military cover and alignment look. _____________________________ Public Health Advisory - Say NO to OOC! |

Mmmm... forgot about this having possibilities for formation flight, I'd love to see 5 Merlins in a v fighter formation.
