Ok, i was pondering the recent death of the LV titan at a pos and the difficulty of actually killing off attacking foces what with lag + such and the ablity of 70+ dreads killing a pos in one cycle.
How does this as a tactic sound.
A = Camp the main system and the next 2 jumps out surrounding (obvious to all, but a larger group of systems need to be camped to stop ppl geting through after node crashs) (many many bubbles on all gates)
B = Small gangs of ceptors in all surrounding systems to pop any cynoships creating cynos for jumpbridging titans (again obvious)
C = To protect the main pos would either using 50+ large bubbles (or alot of interdictors) dotted 300km from the pos in all directions meant that the attacking force would be unable to lock the pos (outside of max lock range) and actually give the defenders time to respond)
Im a bit of a RTS game addict so love to ponder stategies, any critique would be welcome.

Good job you posted this here as I bet noone it thinking about how to defend a single POS as I don't think one has ever been attacked before now?

Well, thanks for that completly useless response.
I was asking a simple question out of curiosity, and ive actually done alot of pos seiging and defending myself, but have never seen any tactics that can defend against a 70+ capital fleet that loggs in n ganks a pos after server node crashes. Bubbles will remain and allow for a better defense.
And on a side note, im sure euro traders have done alot of 100+ capital ship fights
My main account isnt active tis why im using an alt corpdoode, and dont have access to play eve for a while so cant ask about tactics ingame.

He's talking about the LV titan that was destroyed before it could be completed in JV1V. The only fully built titans to have been destroyed are the ASCN and D2 titans that BoB has killed.

Yeah, that is indeed very true, but i was hoping perhaps there was room for more tactics than bring a bigger blob.
But even with larger numbers, with the problems of module activation, lagg, dicconections + server crashes, surly the attacker who needs only to lock and shoot 1 object would have the upper hand when the defenders have to lock + shoot one dread at a time.
The main point was to see how much a 300km perimiter of bubbles would help in defense of a pos as to give the defenders more time to relogg ppl on/remote rep the pos shields, and generally allow for a more epic battle
Mainly as otherwise they would need to cyno them directly near to the hostile pos, as oppose to warping in from a friendly pos, or just loggin in a SS then warping to seige.

You would use an alt in a passively tanked Drake or two, placed in system days before the actual event... there's not much you can do to defend against this. THe drake can take so much punishment. If you pull a sizeable amount of your camping fleet to kill the drake(s), the enemy's support fleet will get past your gate camp...

It might die but what do the coalition gain?
If they kill the POS they will still loose more than it's worth as there is nothing to say there is anything in the tower of worth.
So either way BoB win this one.

Keep in mind that the vast majority of the anti-BoB forces aren't after BoB for any kind of spying or metagaming. Almost everyone who complains about that are empire carebears. Most of the coalition either don't like BoB for attacking them in the past, or for the dev scandal, or they just want to shoot at the most challenging target. BoB is the best alliance in this game, and it's natural to want to fight the best, test yourself against them.

Outrageously besides the point but I'll humour you bob alt. There are many good reasons to fight BOB. However, that some of my members choose to distribute internal RZR info to BOB is not a reason to fight BOB.

in mmo's i find the opposite to be true, no one wants a challenge. either they use cheap tactics, or build a comfort zone of assets to fall back on if they lose, or both.

You mean that fight, or was there another instance of MC cap ship yards being put into RF and not killed which I've forgotten? (Which is entirely possible, my memory isn't what it once was)

Cloaked cyno ship in range of POS negates this. Sure he can be killed but I'm sure there will be backups.
As a maths exercise just how many bubbles would it take to surround a POS at a distance of 300km? I betting thousands.

Uhm. I think his point was D2 and friends did come. They just didnt come when you wanted them to. How darned inconsiderate of them not fighting and playing the game the way BoB tells them to.
They should take some lessons from other corps I think.

They didn't come period, it was the AAA and the druken Russians who had the balls to finish the job on the MC Cap Yard. D2+ friends had a fleet of 50+ caps within cyno distance but didn't jump in. I can very much see that happening again as there will be VERY heavy losses if they jump in.
